In 1970, the Blues received their first U.S. Marine Corps Lockheed KC-130F Hercules, manned by an all-Marine crew, and was affectionatly dubbed
"Fat Albert" after the 1970's cartoon of the same name created by and voiced over by Actor/Comedian/Philanthropist Bill Cosby. This Rendition of the
Aircrafts Paint Scheme was the Second created the first being a Mixed Painted/Bare Metal look, and a the 3rd A mixed White/Grey Scheme Before settling
in on the Well known Blue/White and Yellow scheme we all know today. "Fat Alberts" Original role was to transport support crew and equipment to the many
shows states side and world wide. Beginning in 1975, "Bert" was used for Jet Assisted Take Off (JATO) and short aerial demonstrations just prior to the main event at selected venues,
but the JATO demonstration ended in 2009 due to dwindling supplies of rockets. This C130F operated as Blue Angels support aircraft from 1970-73.
