If you use Voice Attack to do voice control for MSFS, this free plug-in will give you the ability to trigger additional actions (i.e. set the radio frequency) in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 as well as get game state information back (i.e. status of landing gear).

Using the variables, you can do conditional logic (i.e. if "Sim_On_Ground" don't allow landing gear up, etc.) or include additional information in spoken text (i.e. if "Local_Time" is > 5pm say "Good evening" else "Good day").

My favorite is being able to say "Nav1 at 120.5" to set the radio without having to reach for the mouse or mess with the keyboard, especially in VR.

Who is this for?

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 users who want to use Voice Attack commands to control things they can't already do with keyboard commands (i.e. set a radio frequency). It's even more useful now that MSFS supports VR ????

Getting setup

Ensure you have the 64-bit version of Voice Attack installed (check the window tile in the Options window)
Extract the zip file and copy the MSFSAgent folder to your Voice Attack "apps" folder (i.e. C:\Program Files\Voice Attack\apps\MSFSAgent\)
- Important: it must be in it's own folder in the apps directory (i.e. Voice Attack/apps/MSFSAgent/ not Voice Attack/apps/)
Esure "Enable Plug-in Support" is enabled in Voice Attack (go to Options (wrench icon) > General)
In the profiles where you want to use the agent, add a Voice Attack command for "MSFS Agent". If the agent doesn't see this command, it won't do anything. This is to prevent the agent using cycles on profiles it's not needed on.
Restart Voice Attack and you should be good to go!

Optional : Import the example profile

In the zip file there is an example Voice Attack profile (.vap file) with commands for setting radios and using the variables. You can copy these commands into your existing profiles if you want or extend the example.

Are you new or just getting started with Voice Attack?
I highly recommend checking out Virtual Voyagers Immersive Aviation video. He has a profile you can download that has pretty much every voice command you can imagine for MSFS. You can use my plugin and profile to extend his to cover the radios, etc.

Great work!!! Instructions were not as cleared, but I made it work. I had to edit each command to understand what I was saying. As a Dominican dude whenever I said "Set," it would think I was saying six, so i had to adjust each command. Overall great mod.

This is a great Voiceattack plugin - thank you ! Still i'm struggling to make the spoken frequency changes work, like say frequency directly. Before the VR mode came to MSFS i've started to build a Voiceattack profile - but i wanted to use a lot of commands for ATC talk - so it would sound like i give an order to the copilot. It works many times, but not all the time, because some ATC selection numbers for ATC listed orders are changing, depending on the situation. Would it be possible to actually read what text is listed in events ATC 1 to ATC 0 (ATC window selections) ? If yes, then this maybe could be compared in Voiceattack to fit the spoken orders and add the fitting keypress ...

Frandy, can you give me pointers to get it to work?

I cannot get the * system for dictating numbers to work. If I say 'Set Nav1 to 119 point 6' a voice will say 'Nav1 set to zero' before I have finished saying 119.6. I have tried increasing the speech recognition delay to no avail. Is there a simple way you could set the heading without using the * construction? I would love to be able to do this as I have arthritic hands. Thanks for your advice.

I had a similar issue. It’s due to the quirky processing of the * wildcard position by VoiceAttack.

To fix it, I had changed the position of the “*” to beginning of the command instead of at the end. Then change the “CMD_AFTER” to “CMD_BEFORE” in the command.

To use it you will then say “119.6 SET COM 1”. You can always the wording that suits you and the speech recognition. I use a simple command like “122.8 Radio 1 ACTIVE”.

Need help, the commands are working except to recognize a value (represented by "*"). If I say "Autopilot altitude at 2000" VoiceAttack cuts of after ...at and does not recognize the numbers. Other Example "set NAV1 to 109.9" results in "NAV1 set to zero" ... seems the "*" is not working here

Will this work with addons such as FBW and CRJ for settings alt, speed, hdg, and VS? I see the radio piece too, however idk that would be possible since the crj is changed in the FMS. Maybe FBW a320 can since it has the lower panel

I'm looking for an addon to do voice commands for checklists, so I don't have to keep clicking "Check" or "Auto Complete." Is this the program that would do this? If so, does it work with all of the default aircraft (even GA's)? Thanks.

The checklist is actually pretty easy in regular Voice Attack. It will read the statements and will wait for a response from you like "OK, check, complete" or whatever other words you want to use. Are you wanting it to actually DO the action - like the checklist say "turn on landing lights" and actually do the action?

I have the latest version from VoiceAttach, 64 bits, I have my own profile made already. I would give it a try but it's not working, it doesn't shows in the plugin manager

Great idea but all i get when setting the autopilot altitude is a response "altitude set to not set" lol
I installed as per your directions and copied your commands to my existing profile in VA, but yeah all i get is a response "*something* set to not set" so it understands something but not doing anything. I tried in FBW A320 and in B787 maybe it doesn't work with these. Thanks

Couple things to check: 1. Make sure you're running the 64-bit version of Voice Attack 2. Inside Voice Attack, go to settings, General tab, Plug-in Manager. See if there is an entry for MSFS Agent. If it's not there, it's related to #1 or re-check where the files were installed (needs to be sub-folder of the VA add-ons folder) If it's still not working, let me know and we can debug.

When I imported the Profile and have it activated in my profile,should I be able already to use commands like 😣et NAV1 to 119.12 , or do I have to fill in the command lines seen in the picures on github? Yes, you should. I included example profile has voice commands setup for the radios. For example, this is the "when I say" command to set Nav 1 "[set;sent;] nav one [at;to;and] *". The things in square brackets are variants you can say in that part of the command. So... "Set Nav one to 119 point 2" or you can say "Nav one at 121 point 6". You can also alter that command to how you'd like to do the command. Just open the command and change the "What I say" text at the very top. Leave the rest of the command as is. I found Voice Attack had a hard time understanding when I say "Set" so I have the best luck for my voice using "Nav one at 119 point 6". The voice attack manual has more instructions. A good tip is to go through the Windows Speech training so the recognizer can do a better job understanding you.

Can't get it to work...I am using the steam version of Voice Attack. Not sure if thats the issue. I placed folder under:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\VoiceAttack\Apps

When checking the commands in voice attack it says UNABLE TO ACCESS PLUGIN - PLUGIN NOT AVAILABLE

Make sure you have the 64-bit version of Voice Attack. Since SimConnect from Microsoft is 64-bit only, the plugin has to be 64-bit and that means Voice Attack also has to be 64-bit. To confirm which Voice Attack version you have installed, go to the Options UI (wrench icon). The window title should say "64-bit". If you have that and it's still not working, make sure you've checked the "enabled plugins" option in Voice Attack (also on the General tab). If neither solve the issue, let me know.

Looking through what the SimConnect makes available, I'm not seeing anything that give us access to what the ATC window is showing or saying. I don't we have the ability for this yet. Hopefully the MSFS SDK gets this one day.

This looks great and just what I'm after for VR, however having checked on the VoiceAttack website, it appears that currently the only 64 bit version is actually in Beta. Is this the version you are expecting to use with your plug-in?

Yes, it's required because the software to communicate with MSFS (SimConnect) is only released for 64-bit. I've using the 64-bit Voice Attack Beta for a few weeks and have never had any issues so far (knock on wood)
