Discover the beauty of the Tongass National Forest.

The Tongass National Forest in Southeast Alaska is the largest U.S. National Forest at 16.7 million acres (26,100 sq mi; 68,000 km2). Most of its area is temperate rain forest and is remote enough to be home to many species of endangered and rare flora and fauna. The Tongass, which is managed by the United States Forest Service, encompasses islands of the Alexander Archipelagofjords and glaciers, and peaks of the Coast Mountains.

In this flight, we travel from Annette Island to Stewart. 2 different flightplans are included in this download

  • A flight all the way over the water, taking in the beauty of the fjords. Those so inclined can use a small amphibious plane and make some stops along the way
  • A second flight that guides you through the mountains and exits those just a few miles from your destination. This flight is at it most beautiful when flown at about 500ft AGL. Recommended aircraft : as always, something low and slow.
