This is my attempt at improving Winter Haven's Gilbert Airport. It focuses on adding taxiways E and F, built in 2018, adding buildings not rendered by default, terraforming land to remove bumps, adding static aircraft, fixing lighting, and renaming taxiways to match their real life names. I have also made other minor changes to make the airport look more like its real life self. This is my first time creating scenery for any flight simulator, so it isn't perfect! Let me know of any issues so I can fix them. I hope you enjoy the scenery!
To install, just extract the 'airport-kgif-v2.1.zip' file and then copy the 'airport-kgif-v2.1' folder to your MSFS Community folder.
I used the awesome tool created by Patrick Germain, available here, to automatically import the default KGIF airport to a project so that I didn't have to recreate the airport from scratch. The scenery also includes assets from Mikeaat, which can be found here. Be sure to follow the instructions to add the asset package to your community folder. If you don't, not everything will render correctly.
The following description is from Wikipedia - Winter Haven's Gilbert Airport (IATA: GIF, ICAO: KGIF, FAA LID: GIF) is a city-owned, public-use airport located three nautical miles (6 km) northwest of the central business district of Winter Haven, a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. It is owned by the City of Winter Haven. It is also known as Winter Haven Regional Airport or Gilbert Field. Jack Browns Seaplane Base is located adjacent to the airport, connected by a taxiway. During World War II, Gilbert Field was an auxiliary airfield for the Lakeland (later Lodwick) School of Aeronautics at the Lakeland Lodwick Field airport. The school provided basic pilot training to United States Army Air Forces and British Royal Air Force flying cadets from the airfield under contract. Flight training was performed until the end of the war.
In the future, I would like to add some missing taxiway lights that I can't figure out how to add currently. The correct options are selected but they won't render. Additionally, the terminal on the north side of the airport is not correct, but there is no matching model in the SDK assets currently. As more assets are created and added, I will check for a better model.
IMPORTANT: If you are also using my Jack Brown's Seaplane Base package, you need to download and use the file with -no-f57 appended to the end. If you don't, there will be some duplicated scenery.
Hello, please, please update this scenery. Really miss this airport

Hi PlaneGuy,
I have all of the library/assets addons, I can think of, installed, including the Mikeaat assets you link to. However, the open hangars where the aircraft are parked are missing (the planes are there, but the hangars aren't). I'm also missing a few of the small grey hangars on the southern end of the airport. I was wondering what additional libraries they may require?

I went back and checked and the issue is that some of the hangars are from some orbx freeware airports that I had installed😂. I didn't even realize I was using them when I made this mod. The project editor now shows what package an object is in, I don't think it said that when I created this. I'll need to replace those hangars and upload an updated version. Thanks for catching this!

Any chance you could look into 2 of my 3 airport requests?
