RAF Kinloss (UK)

RAF Kinloss, a former RAF installation on the Moray Firth in Scotland. It has since been converted into Kinloss Barracks, 

was used as a tempory home while RAF Lossiemouth's runway was resurfaced, so this is how i have depicted it.

Still much more to do buildings wise updates to come.

I thoroughly enjoyed flying into and exploring Kinloss this evening, I started by admiring the Chinook on the helipad. It was a very nice touch adding the two poseidons, especially as a few were there while Lossie was being finished, 801 was first to arrive wasn't she? And Boris One in her shiny livery that triggered so many civilians, would it upset them to know that it cost virtually the same as the grey paint

Did you individually number the Typhoons, or did they come like that?

I only noticed one fault. When I selected Kinloss from the Airfield list, Lossie answered the landing request instead. That aside, fantastic job.

Thank you. Your ongoing work with giving us RAF stations is appreciated. If I may, I would like to put in a request for a future alternate version to populate the station with Nimrods (should a static model become available). For many people, that will always be the iconic image of Kinloss. Again, as with my similar request for Leuchars, I know you will assess the mood of your audience, and I respect that. Just chipping in with my vote on it. Best regards from a former Inverness resident long-moved to Canada.

Hi. It is actually very simple so long as you correctly configure the the folder, contents and file structure of each AI aircraft you use. The aircraft must be FSX native, not FS9. It can however be originally FS9 format ran through modelconverterX. Each texture folder used must have a matching model folder, which does not have to contain the actual model but containing a cfg file directing to the actual model. All texture files must be DDS format. each texture file must have a similarly named Json file accompanying it. The aircraft cfg file for each aircraft must be split into the various section files. The aircraft folder must also contain an AI.cfg file. Default one is OK. I compile the traffic BGL same as done for FSX using AIFP34315, it is then placed in scenery/world/scenery folder within the community folder along with the aircraft folder, ie simobjects/airplanes/ Ai aircraft. I have extensive retro ai aircraft flying without any problems. If you are interested in this, if you have an email contact address for example, I would send you a more detailed rundown.

A more Retro version would be favorite I think. Personally I have my AI traffic aircraft all configured for the late 90's - very early 2000. This fits nicely with the Kinloss Nimrod era. I have a full fleet of excellent Nimrods flying, Via the FSX version extensive range from simshed and UKMILL. All of which work great as AI in the sim. Unfortunately however, They presently cannot appear at Kinloss as there are not any parking spots there large enough to accept them! Quite a common problem with this sim. Is there any chance that this could be addressed along with removing most of the statics please? Some additional parking spots would also help. Thanks again for your excellent work.

Thanks for that. I dont mind there being a couple of relevant static aircraft about so long as they dont use up valuble parking or taxi routes needed for AI traffic. Older statics would look better for retro AI use, especially as you never see real aircraft at the base now it is an artillery barracks. Thanks again.

Hi. Excellent scenery very well done. However, could I request that you make it clear of static aircraft for those of us who use AI Traffic. There are several Nimrods made for FSX that work very well in MSFS, that really bring the base alive1 Thanks

Thank you for your kind comments, i will look into the ATC thing, i wonder what it does with the scenery removed, i will check to see if its something i did or the sim is like that
