Nautipilot: Autopilot for MSFS Boats & Ships

Operation

  • Extract the contents of the zip to a folder
  • Plan a "flight" in the MSFS World Map and start
  • Once the vessel is stable on the water, apply throttle
  • Open Nautipilot.exe - that's it!
  • To disable, just close the Nautipilot application

Supported Vessels

This has been tested with the SS France by RM Marine, but it should work with all RM Marine vessels and probably most other MSFS boats/ships.

Limitation

Any odd terrain that interferes with manual sailing will also affect Nautipilot

Sample Routes

Two sample "cruise plans" are included - just load them in the World Map.

Brilliant concept, version 1 works as advertised with a wide variety of boats and ships and all tests were successful. I've tested it with:

  • Luxury Speedboat - Adi S.
  • Crew Vessel - Aerosoft's North Sea Package
  • Rubber Duck - Wookie's freeware on .to*
  • Canoe & Dog - GotFriends freeware

And the following from RM Marine:

  • Darla (vintage yacht)
  • Special Ops Boat
  • SeaRay 650 (65' yacht)
  • RMS Carpathia (pax/cargo)
  • The Nostalgia (sailboat)
  • Poseidon (400' yacht)

Wookie's rubber duck is hilarious when NautiPilot (NP) is in control because a) the controls are quite sensitive, so it wanders a bit, b) the duck starts to fly. Highly recommended!

Please note that crosswinds adversely affect RM Marines boats and ships, including those purchased in the Marketplace and from third parties such as .to. So, if your install of NautiPilot doesn't seem to be working, make sure that the wind speeds are no higher than 3 knots.

Suggestions:

  • A Pause button would be greatly appreciated, so if we spot something interesting, like a lighthouse, we could take manual control and check it out, then resume our cruise by unpausing NautiPilot.
  • Down the road, it would be great if we could choose between automatic and manual input. So, we could input a course and have NP follow it.

I do love the addon so far, however I must say, I'm quite disappointed in it's ability to follow the magenta line. It's causing issues to the point where I've had to turn off the autopilot so I can actually navigate away from land

Thanks for the comment - after talking on discord, I’ll look into it further Edit: Although your issue was partly caused by dodgy sea "terrain", any accuracy degradation that previously existed over very long direct routes should now be addressed in V1.3.0. Accuracy should also be even better in general.
