Moriarty Municipal wasn’t exactly populated in the default MSFS scenery set, and it being one of my home airfields, I got the itch to properly fill it in. I hope you like the results.
Moriarty Municipal is small regional general aviation airport located in Torrance County, New Mexico and is located about 41 miles east of Albuquerque. It caters to and is very popular with the soaring clubs. There are dozens of hangars on the field, a commercial operation and there is a small FBO with glider rentals and towing. Both 100LL and Jet A are available.
There are over a hundred gliders based at the airport, and folks from all over the world come here to take advantage of the desert thermals.
As a “hot and high” airport at 6200 feet (1890 m) AGL, Moriarty Muni boasts two 75ft wide runways:
8-26 (7702ft)
17-35 (6201ft)
The length of these runways is needed during the hot months for aircraft to be able to safely takeoff as density altitude here can easily exceed 10,000 feet (and more) when the temperature is up. But what mother nature takes with one hand from the powered pilot, she gives up with the other for the soaring pilot: The heat here produces world-class thermals for soaring. Gliders here can easily soar up to 18,000 feet and circuit hundreds of miles while crossing multiple States, for hours on end.
Also included in this package is nearby Sandia Airpark Estates – 1N1. It’s been given better parking, and the beacon has been moved out of way from the approach. It is only about 6nm from Moriarty Municipal and has the distinction of being the airport where I took flight lessons. The runway is only 30 feet wide. It’s best to take your flight lessons very early in the morning, by 9am the thermals take over and the ride gets way too bumpy.

I'll see if I can update the listing - the code for Moriarty Municipal is 0E0.

Looking forward to checking out your airport. It would be a big help if you would include its airport code somewhere. Thanks!
Thanks for updating the title!
