This tool works a treat. I have over 2500 addon folders and so far I have never experienced any CTDs or missing objects or addons not working while using this tool. I prefer to use this tool rather than the one built into Addon Linker because it allows me to easily choose which folder to scan.
This sounds like a useful mod. Does it produce a log of the changes it makes or make backups. I will give it a try later.
ps. Downloaded and ran. It correced about 50 addons out of about 200 in my community folder. Not sure what differences I am going to notice as a result.
Excellent little tool I am going to also need to run on my other scenery folders that I don't use all of the time.
A quite marvelous tool. I was a bit nervous when I checked my recycle bin later in the day, but all was fine!
Great stuff! Thank you so much.
A couple of days ago the Program started to give me a random error:
"Der Wert darf nicht 0 sein" (The value must not be zero). Still seems to work fine, though - just giving me this popup from time to time.
Solved my conflicts in a second. Great, great application and shows how lazy are even paid product developers!
I love your app. It is very easy to use and does a wonderful quick job. Everyone should be using this if they are downloading any scenery files. Is it possible to allow input for the characters to add to modellib.bgl instead of just adding the name of the file to the front of the modellib.bgl and then modifying the .json file? The folders are sometimes very long and it would be easy to simply add the airport code to the file such as bikf-modellib.BGL - or anything the user wanted to input in case it is not a scenery/airport-etc file. I also find that a lot of downloaded files haven't changed the 'mycompany' name and I would hope it is a simple matter to add the same prefix to this folder and then modify the .json file appropriately. Or maybe a separate program! Both of these issues were addressed last fall by MS and Asobo. If it is too much in the way of a comment, just ignore it. Thank you in advance for reading and considering these suggestions.
Just amazing, thanks man 😊
One issue: It brings the message "File count differerence" for some layout.json's although everything is okay. And after clicking "Rename" the layout.json is wrong (contains to less files from the mod). As I figured out the long folder/file-names are the reason. Please can you extend the handling with longer folder/file-names 😊
All the sceneries have been corrected.
Many thanks.
All went through smoothly, no errors, most early scenery addons fixed. Many livery file count issues fixed (what are these?).
Great so far.
C'est plutôt vide par ici.

Hello.
I am trying to change the path for this program. But I am unable to put there the default MS Store location that is C:\Users\Jovzin\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community
How can I put there this file path ? Thank you sir.
BuffyGC author
Hi,
just click on the "path" buttum and select this path. But MC should detect the correct path automatically. If not, let me know by private message or on discord which path it is detecting.

wtf even Flightbeam is using modellib.bgl??? All the LatinVFR stuff. Is this really still an issue even with SU10?
JimmiG
Is this still an issue in 2022? I did a scan of my scenery folder, and it does flag a bunch of sceneries. This includes some commercial products that have been released or updated fairly recently. Hilariously, if you scan the Official folder, even some of the World Update and stock airport files seem to have these problems. Are developers still not aware of this problem or is the tool producing false "positives"?
BuffyGC author
Yes, even with the current sim version, misconfigured and misnamed ModelLib.Bgl can lead to CTDs. As in the past, not necessarily each modellib.
Even commercial products have the problem. Just because a product has to be paid for doesn't mean the quality is better and the knowledge is there with the people behind it. Only you can determine whether this is the case with your products.

yes, it does. This logic is also baked into MSFS Addons Linker app, which I also recommend

I have looked into this modellib.bgl issue. Sometimes when I start MSFS and launch a flight, the screen will be darker and the loading bar becomes frozen. I have about 700 sceneries but I don't run them at once (using addon linker). I've looked at about 100 of my scenery files for one area of the world and there over 30 files with the same modellib file name. A few have renamed it. Would the fact that 30 airports have this identical file be causing the sim to hang on this darker loading screen?
BuffyGC author
Maybe, maybe not.
There are several reasons for this issue. ModelLibChanger try to correct one of those reasons. Check it out.
AddOn Linker has a kind of ModelLibChanger included also.

It can only process ten files at a time, correct?
BuffyGC author
No, it is unlimited

@BuffyGC:
It seems that MSFS ModelLib Changer edits layout.json and usually saves it as an ANSI encoded file. BUT if it encounters accented characters (French, German, Spanish etc) it saves it as a UTF-8 encoded file. I am finding that this is causing issues with certain other tools that read the layout.json files and expect consistent ANSI encoding.
BuffyGC author
Hi Steve,
by SDK, the layout.json should be UTF-8 without BOM, for XBOX it is mandatory to be UTF-8 without BOM.
When another tool have issues with reading UTF-8, please feel free to ask the developer of those tools. Double-checked several layout.json from official folder and each of them is UTF-8 without BOM.

Thanks for Praise and rating. I guess, you are German because of the German message.
Ich würde gerne das Problem genauer analysieren. Hast Du Discord? Wenn ja, bitte kontaktiere mich, damit wir gemeinsam das Problem angehen können. Danke Dir.

MSFS should be updated to Not Crash if two file names are identical.

Hi lscism,
apologies for late reply, didn't got an message for your comment, however.
Many thanks for rating and your suggestions. ModelLibChange is searching for some ICAO-Information to rename the packages as suggested, but maybe it don't find all of them :)
An input will not be able, because ModelLibChanges runs in a batch, so I cannot ask the user to enter a code for each mod it will change. Sometimes, this are hundreds.
Concerning the "mycompany" issue. Do you have any link? I didn't heard about it is a real issue. Ok it is stupid, but without any impact to the sim, isn't it?
