This is somewhat more of an informative heads-up for developers currently referencing Emerald Object Library in their freeware addons!I'm shooting to release a new update in (hopefully) a week or two, which adds a handful of new objects including simobjects with dynamic visiblity coding, a windsock, windtee, and even several objects completely remastered. This is going to be the largest update to date. This is all in preperation for my Chunilna Cabin Strip payware release. There is one change that may affect some of your sceneries. I have reworked the campfire model a bit and it is now a simobject to be able to take advantage of visibility coding. Unfortunatly, simobjects are called differently in the placement XML than standard scenery objects, so if you used this model in your scenery, the old reference will need to be removed and the new model placed. Thanks to everyone who have incorperated my models into your addons! I look forward to getting this new update out to you all soon!-RN44

I have been thinking about how I handle the release of my updates. In the past, I have always published these libraries here on .to and my website first and then marketplace takes another 1-2 weeks to deliver the update. However, this time around I waited for the Marketplace release day before publishing elsewhere so everyone could get the update same-day.
Edit: Well, at least that was the plan, but I guess there's no marketplace update this week, so that backfired pretty hard.. Still...
If you could take a moment to vote on the poll below, it would be highly appreciated!

Devs,
Just a quick note: If you have placed the Bee SFX SimObjects in any of your scenery since the last Library update, they will need to be removed and replaced in the next update.
During file transfer, I overwrote the sim.cfg with the copy from Forwood Farm, which uses a different Title. It will be changed back to "ESD_SFX_Bees" in the next update, so as not to cause a conflict with Forwood Farm.
Sorry for any inconvenience! Expect an update fairly soon!

I'm posting this statement here as this addon has the most outreach out of all that I have uploaded.Today, I had to make a tough decision. One that I have not ever had to make in nearly 12 years of creating FS addons. This is a discussion of not only morals, but basic ownership rights for my fellow addon creators.
flightsim.to, a site which makes up most of my freeware downloads, was always an excellent platform for my mission in bringing you all high quality addons.
However, their terms have changed, but my morals remain.
A while back, flightsim.to stripped our (all creators) ability to remove our mods from their platform and introduced a questionable clause to their terms. Many of us have known about this since it was introduced a while back (last year), but have struggled with how to handle the situation, as in the end, it's ultimately the end-user who suffers.
I have attached the term in question to this post. Which pretty much states: We own your content once you upload it and even if you delete it, we will reupload it as we see fit. This goes against copyright law. And if a user truly needs to honor a take-down request, they are unable to easily do so.
A while back, a user (I don't remember who it was) acted on this change and reuploaded an empty file as an update in protest, which .to soon after reuploaded on their own account. Today, Lagaffe (FrenchVFR) has done the same, and it will likely end in a similar manner.
As creators who pour thousands of hours into projects each year, many of us will not honor this term, even if it hurts us as well. It's our time. Our creation. We choose to share that with all of you, but when stuff like this happens. Sometimes there is only one reasonable solution.
Effective immediately: All ESD addons have been archived and will not be supported on flightsim.to.What does this mean? Well, you can still find and download everything. I just will not be releasing anything new, including updates on this platform. Everything will be available from our website (https://emeraldscenerydesign.com). If they change their terms, we will consider coming back. However, it is not fair to us that we are forced into a position where we cannot retain rights to our creations. At any time (not just the short one-time deletion window they just told us we could use), if we do not agree to their terms, it should terminate the contract on both ends. That is no longer how it is structured.
I want to make it clear that this decision is not solely fueled by .to's recent Premium Account announcement (Which is completely optional for both sides). It was only the final straw.

I'm posting this statement here as this addon has the most outreach out of all that I have uploaded.
Yesterday, I made the following statement (see attached photo) on the Emerald Scenery Design Discord and Facebook page. This statement was in response to some speculations I had seen floating around. I wanted to make it clear that my main goal throughout all of this was only to better .to for everyone, taking the least invasive approach (I never removed access to any of my addons, even though some articles falsly stated that I did). From the beginning, the goal was never to leave .to, but to only enforce that under the absolute worst-case senario, had they not been open to further clarification of their policies.
I have to believe that most of us see the benefit in .to and having a central location for everything. While this is convenient, you also cant deny that many of us have been stupid for putting all of our eggs in one basket and ignoring the other sites as well.
Even though many have seen and argued that this has had a mostly negative impact, I believe we will see a lot of positive changes come out of it, across the community.
ORBX, INI, and especially Fly Away Simulation, are all making changes for the better because of this, and the whole community will benefit.
I have sat back the last few days and watched many of the threads on this topic. I have listened to developers, the responses of .to staff, and even all of the users weighing in, positive or negative. However, at the end of the day, I still have to make my own decision...
I have decided that .to seems to be on a good path to satisfying the majority of us, and as I dont want to cause any further confusion on my stance with .to moving forward, I have taken the "archived" flag off of all ESD addons uploaded on .to. This is all done under good faith that .to will honor their end and push forward with their revised policies (https://flightsim.to/legal/terms?v=23.02.2023).
I have also opted to reenable payware sales. Though, future products coming to flightsim.to are still unknown at this time. This is a decision completely unrelated to TOS or contracts of any kind.
Thank you to all who have personally reached out with your thoughts & suggestions over the last week! Hopefully this will be the last statement ESD will make on this topic.
