Description
Castle AFB closed around 1995, but still maintains the Air Museum. The planes at he museum are currently represented as buildings even though it has many very cool aircraft like the SR-71, B-17, and one of the Air Force One planes from the Reagan era. I was stationed there from 1988 to 1994 and holds a special spot in my life. When I first arrived there it was a SAC base then eventually became an ACC (although training) base. The north ramp was magnificently lined with B-52s, then south with the KC-135 tankers with there individual aprons. I also enjoyed the flags surrounding the parade ground from each state. Another highlight would be the alert pad on the south end of the runway and a small squadron of F-15s (if I remember right).
