Outstanding, $20 .... id' set a minimum price but allow people to donate more if they want to, especially if it goes towards resurrecting this fantastic aircraft.

Hot take: Ini is wasting their talents on an aircraft that'll be fun for like 2 flights. I understand its for a good cause and I am by no means judging their choice, but they definitely could've taken their talents towards creating a more unclassified, common and practical aircraft. I doubt they'll be able to replicate an accurate product given the low amount of information based on systems, performance .etc. But at the same time, ini does have quite a high reputation. Also, a 6-man crew aircraft? I find the workload to be overwhelming on the 320 sometimes...

Hot (bad) take, indeed. There is no "wasting talents". The real-world aircraft is a tragically destroyed marvel of engineering. Even a good rendition of it is worth developing for historical sake alone. Still, there will be tons of users who fly this thing all over the place. It's ok for developers to make things that don't personally interest you.

they shouldn't make any promises here, but rather update the X-Plane11 planes bought by the customers so that they work in X-Plane 12! But that's apparently not so prestigious!?

It would be better to focus on the A300...

That's your opinion but not mine and i think also not from many others. For me if the addon is good and enough realistic I'll be pleased to learn the aircraft in and out and i will definitely have many wonderful hours while flying this beautiful engineering marvel around the globe.

It would be really nice to have it. As this is a unique aircraft can the voice of the crew be special?. English with Russian accent? It would be cool for more realism. Creating it just for this plane if possible.

For $20 and to help reconstruction of the original, count me in.

Yes, yes, Ukrainian, never mind that it is the soviet aeroplane, having no relation to modern Ukraine (if we speak about flights in its "historical epoch"), or that even the crew of An-225 in their flights always communicated in Russian only (even Dmitry Antonov)Ukrainian accent, yes

I did my tribute with my An-225 Mriya Tom _ rrathge. Happy that a great company took this project to another level. very good.

Who calls things “soviet” today? 1 People of a certain age, who are attached to certain aspects of their past and for them, things that no longer in their own country are still soviet. 2 Or those who think that soviet union were one country with only one nation ... russians.

How do you know how Ukraine care or not about Mriya? Maybe you live here (in Ukraine) or maybe you are Antonov DB staff? Tell me.- 1990s (After soviet union broke up) Antonov DB decided that the An-225 would be restored. The aircraft was re-engined, received modifications to modernise and better adapt it to heavy cargo transport operations, and placed back in service.- 225-100 new designation applied to the An-225 after its 2000 modernization. Upgrades included a traffic collision avoidance system, improved communications and navigation equipment, and noise reduction features.- on 23 May 2001 Under Antonov Airlines, the An-225 received its type certificate from the Interstate Aviation Committee Aviation Register (IAC AR).- In 2020, Antonov designed and installed new power management and control systems.

or 3: People who understand how production worked in the Soviet Union and therefore think it is wrong to consider the An-225 to be Ukrainian or the "Buran" to be Russian. Moreover, when it comes to the AN-225, to call it Ukrainian is as ridiculous as to call Concorde exclusively French or exclusively English, given that literally half of this aircraft was built in the RSFSR and Uzbek SSR especially when its chief designer is Russian - Victor Ilyich TolmachevIf you think that understanding of production chains and manufacturing solutions = love for the USSR, you are very much mistaken, which is not surprising.P.S >Who calls things “soviet” today?Uhm... even eng wikipedia?

    Absolutely agree.
This was a Soviet-era airplane, built in the Soviet Union, manned by Russian-speaking Soviet citizens.
If you want to be even pickier, chances are that these planes were manned by "ethnic" Russians, (from the "Russian" part of the Soviet Union), rather than Ukrainians, Georgians, Armenians, Uzbeks, or whatever - they were considered more "politically reliable".
As far as the "accent" is concerned, if you were above a certain social standing - such as to be considered for the flight crew of a major aircraft or senior officers in the military, you spoke with a "Moscow" Russian accent as that was considered "standard" Russian. If you spoke with an accent from "one of the republics" - that was a sign of lesser breeding and lower social standing in the Soviet social structure.

    * 1990s (After [the] [S]oviet [U]nion broke up) Antonov DB decided that the An-225 would be restored. The aircraft was re-engined, received modifications to modernize and better adapt it to heavy cargo transport operations, and placed back in service.* 225-100 new designation applied to the An-225 after its 2000 modernization. Upgrades included a traffic collision avoidance system, improved communications and navigation equipment, and noise reduction features.* on 23 May 2001 Under Antonov Airlines, the An-225 received its type certificate from the Interstate Aviation Committee Aviation Register (IAC AR).* In 2020, Antonov designed and installed new power management and control systems.Despite the post-Soviet modifications and updates, it's still a Soviet-era airplane.
It is also important to note that all of these modifications, though good, were necessary for this aircraft to operate in airspace outside of the Russian Federation and to comply with global standards. This wasn't Antonov's great engineering contribution, these were necessary modifications, without which the airplane would be effectively grounded.
No matter how you slice it, a Boeing 717 is still an MD-80, and why do you think Boeing killed the program after they acquired MD? Because it "competed" with the 737 which was a "real ethnic Boeing" aircraft - even though the MD-80 was very popular and would have sold like hotcakes.
The same is true for the An-225 - no matter how often it's updated, it's still a Soviet era aircraft.

    👍
This is one of many historical Soviet-era aircraft that should be preserved as the Soviet Union had a number of classic and unique aircraft - like the ground-effect flying boat aircraft that was supposed to fly over the Black Sea using ground-effect to reduce drag - and there's still one on display in Moscow.
I also agree that allowing the buyer to increase the "donation" amount is a great idea. I am sure that some might not be able to afford more than $20, but for those of us who can, it would be nice if that were available.

Also, a 6-man crew aircraft? I find the workload to be overwhelming on the 320 sometimes...Hopefully they'll do what PMDG did with the DC-6 - which had a 3-man crew - and supply a "virtual flight crew".
On the DC-6 there's a tablet that you can swing out and control most aspects of the aircraft, including delegating tasks to the other members of the flight crew. This not only makes the plane easier to fly, but it's more realistic as nobody flew the DC-6 alone aside from within a catastrophic emergency situation.
Ini is wasting their talents on an aircraft that'll be fun for like 2 flights.Possibly, though that's a judgement call that I don't feel qualified to make.
Just because I might not ever fly it, doesn't mean the effort is wasted - especially if it's being done to preserve a classic Soviet-era airplane that otherwise might have faded away and been lost forever.
(Note that there's an aircraft museum outside of Moscow that has a whole stable of classic aircraft that would be worthy of modelling, if that would help restoration of them.)
I don't fly the Rotate MD-80 I bought for X-Plane, but I have a long history with that aircraft and many fond memories - so I bought it.

Sure, it was soviet, it was, in the past, and so was the space shuttle Buran that it was created to transport, before the soviet disappeared. Most of its nations are now living their own present and anticipating their future. Time to own the present. Soviet killed this project, Ukraine gave it new live. That's why we, ukrainians, consider it as ukrainian aircraft with beautiful ukranian name on it bord "Mriya".

. . . and what does this have to do with the Antonov An-225?

I would like to disagree with you, though the USSR was not an "ideal country" and I don't sympathise with him in any way, but you speak as if it was literally a "gulag" of national minorities protected by the RussiansFor example, the commander of the crew of the first AN-225 flight was... ethnic Ukrainian (alive till now, God bless him) A. Galunenko, apart from him there were at least three more Ukrainians in crew, not to mention many test pilots from different republics (Apakidze - Georgia, Rimantas - Lithuania, Taymetov - Uzbek, Maldybaev - Kazakh, etc.) who used to fly (and keep their accent) in the USSR Moreover, many politicians and politburo members were not Russian and had a pronounced accent (not to mention the leaders of the USSR, who included Ukrainians and even... Stalin)

Soviet killed this projectexcuse me... what?In 1994, Ukraine (already an independent state) itself grounded plane and removed its engines, until it realised that it could be used again, so how did it get killed by... soviets?

"If you want to be even pickier, chances are that these planes were manned by "ethnic" Russians, (from the "Russian" part of the Soviet Union), rather than Ukrainians, Georgians, Armenians, Uzbeks, or whatever - they were considered more "politically reliable"."

    Oleksandr Halunenko
Oleksandr Vasylyovych Halunenko is a Ukrainian test pilot, Honoured Test Pilot of the USSR, the president of the Ukrainian Federation of Aeronautical Sports, and recipient of the title Hero of Ukraine.

Oops...There must be soviet buran project. Sorry for that. My huge mistake. But still, yes, it was grounded for 7 years. In early 90s Antonov DB had many financial problems, Mriya - with not finished test programs and without type certificate for commercial usage. That's why i wrote Ukraine gave it new live.

Who the hell mentioned pirating software. What on earth are you talking about. We're discussing that the set this as a minimum price and if people wanted to pay more as a donation then perhaps they could facilitate it. No one mentioned pirating .

I would be careful about donations, Ukraine is not handling them as they should. Corruption is rampant in this country, it is never guaranteed that the donations end up where they belong. Ukraine is a country of fraudsters.

No. I never mentioned any kind of gulag. It's just that living in Russia, especially Moscow, I have noticed that the "Old Guard" from Soviet times were/are particularly racist. Fortunately the younger generations have given up a lot of the feuds of their elder brethren.
If only the rest of the world could do the same.

It's time to own the present.Sure. I guess you can call it whatever you want. Maybe the Uzbek's want to name it something else? How about other countries?
So, we should rename the DC-3 because it's an older plane? Or the MD-80/Boeing-717? Why not? Let's "own the present" and rename it!
Maybe I should call the Boeing 777 "Butterfly" or "Angel Wings" instead of what the manufacturer calls it?
BTW, there are DC-3's and MD-80/717's still flying. Not very many, but they are there.
It's still an An-225, no matter what you want to name it.
IMHO, this is all wide of the mark. Call the plane whatever you want, but can we get back on topic discussing the release of this aircraft instead of all this stupid Ukrainian vs Russian nonsense?

"Inibuilds surprised the flight-sim community by announcing their works on an upcoming Antonov An-225 rendition for Microsoft Flight Simulator." No, Inibuilds would have surprised the flight-sim community if they'd released their product without the usual drip-feed process of announcing development then taking forever to release it. Don't tell us you're developing something. Develop it than release it.
