For me, flying is about the freedom that must be limitless above the clouds, about sightseeing in attractive areas or, in an airliner, about imagining holidays and traveling to foreign countries. The new Flusi seems to focus on forest fires, motor vehicle accidents, heart attacks, broken legs in lonely mountains, poison spraying on fields and other catastrophes. Some people like that. I don't think it's anything for me.

I'm a little disappointed with Microsoft because we all spent, invested time and money just for them to create a whole new simulator that has the same technology as MSFS 2020 but with better graphics. Its like a retexture and reshade of MSFS 2020 then renamed it to MSFS 2024. But still I want to see how this will turn out for next year.

After three years of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, where users have been full beta testers for the optimization of the simulator, but paying, where we have suffered different types of issues, bugs, DTCs, loss of device configuration, poor compatibility of addons , and other types of incidents for the damn idea of introducing the XBox as a gaming platform, we have suffered the unspeakable to be able to make a decent flight. And when we already thought we were leaving the tunnel, to enjoy our simulator, now it's time to change to a new version where they come with the possibility of developing different professional careers, and that we will have to pay again, instead of being a simple DLC. It's enough to laugh at us!

There are no news yet on how this game is going to attach (or shall I say detach?) from the current sim. So before getting utterly frustrated, sit tight and wait for some more infos before fueling yourself and others with this kind of hate.

Making it standalone meaning leaving the computer on for 3 whole days for it to try to download 120GB of files that is continually re-downloading after cancelling mid-way throughh.
Why not be like Skyrim SE->AE route, but with $$$ if you are just enhancing it like this?
Also, I don't mind doing chores with flying stuffs. Just like Reno DLC can be fun, I just want the more immersive / realistic option, where you can start from the parking ramp instead of mid-air to join the race. Allow the users to prepare their own planes or helos for the "mission" instead of scripting everything like it is an arcade game, where the computer AI or script played the majority of the games for you and sarcastically clapping your achievement on the background. In CS, we still need to buy our stuff, and walk into the firefight not instantly joining the action - so come on Asobo...

How about Asobo investing development resources in resolving the countless bugs in the current product instead (from a bugged world map to floating cars to straight non-op basic autopilot functionality in airliners)? Or how about finally giving us some much needed QOL/immersion improvements like the ones that to this day need to be covered by (free) community mods (nameplate keyboard toggle, (broken) live livrery / plane type display of NPC planes)?
I bought MSFS2020 for $100+ on the implicit premise of a "next gen product for the next 10 years".
I won't buy another Asobo product, considering the abysmal quality MSFS2020 shows 2.5 yrs after launch. I don't need another empty "Wow! graphics!" hull that just doesn't work properly under the hoods.
Also, I will stop all add-on purchases until the future of MSFS2020 is made absolutely clear.
Sorry, but this is an extremely bad move towards their day-one customers.
    S

My exposition is not hate, it is reality. They are facts!!! We have been testing a practically unfinished product for three years and paying for it. And now it turns out that they have developed a new version, when they could have dedicated those resources to improve the current one. How much of their resources have been used in the development of the new version, and how much in the support of the current one? They owe us an explanation.

You have been enjoying MSFS all this time, and you will still be able to enjoy it in the future. I think playing the victim now is a bit far fetched.

Well, you can always go back to XP / P3D / FSX. This is a free world after all.
    S

For your information, I haven't been able to use it for months because I didn't trust that I could play with it. I could not make a flight of more than an hour, without a DTC in cruise, or in a landing, or a brutal loss of performance at less than 15 FPS, even in Medium configuration (I have an NVidia RTX 3080, and a 3840x1080 display). Just in the last year or so, I've been able to use it decently, and still, I've had the odd problem that, thankfully, hasn't been the dreaded CTD anymore. That is why it seems to me a bad joke that they want to sell you a new product without having been able to enjoy the current one for a long time without incidents.

Absolutely gutted by this news. How come they are screwwing us the community over and all devs heavily invested into this, with such inapporpriate news. Wow!! Disappointing

Whilst I share peoples concerns about the future of 2020 , it has been quite clear for some time that despite the many millions who have bought 2020 ,keeping the M.S. servers running and supplying the scenery that we use and the continuing updates of 2020 by a large team , has a huge cost, it is therefore understandable that 2024 will be payware, a point they managed to sidestep in their FAQ , I just hope that our current access to the servers is not reliant on us buying 2024, as I can see a great return to the likes of XP12 if it does

    These are frustrating news
At first I was nothing but blown out by the trailer, only then to realize that nothing (or at the very least not everything) of what I saw is going to end up in MSFS. If you are absolutely have to make a new Sim to take advantages of the newest engine - fine, then shut down MSFS entirely and move us to FS24. But what you did I just basically scrolled through all of the Wishlist topics the users were submitting in the past 3 years and said "Nah man, we'll better implement them somewhere else". Didn't you think for a second that me, and many other users, your loyal customers who brought the Premium Deluxe before MSFS even got released would want the EXACTLY THE SAME content&experience in the MSFS!??
Now MSFS is going to be split up into the two different Sims that you'll HAVE TO choose in between if you want all the features in. And your promissed band-aid type of the updates for the original MSFS won't change my opinions.
Also big shoot-out for treating us as nothing more than a beta testers for your new Sim.

Mouais !!!
    C

self entitled "gamers" typical behavior I'm afraid. The collective amnesia on what it takes to build a simulator, as well as a basic understanding of business strategy, leads to that kind of comment and rant. What a great time to be alive, really.
    I

Perhaps they could not solve some issues in the current sim and needed to re-develop the core of the sim - whilst adding basically career mode, perhaps Raytracing, Avatar (walk) mode, etc... Also that doesn't mean they won't continue their support for FS2020.
    C

I've also been using it for years, with lots of heavy add-ons, and I haven't been having issues any more than I did with P3D before it.
I've done countless 6 to 8 hour flights without issue. 50 FPS average on the highest settings with a Ryzen 7700X and a RTX 3090 on a 3440x1440 ultrawide.
It's a case of the loud minority here. That is a fact. You yourself just admitted that you didn't use it for months, so you don't even know if the issues you faced were fixed or not. Yet here you are spewing complaints.

How long were you expecting the free sim and world updates to last? Developers need income to keep running you greedy "customer".
You mention the old days, but seemingly forgot that Microsoft used to release a new simulator every 2 years? Do you have the same complaints when Lockheed charges for a new version of P3D?
No one is forcing you to upgrade. MS/Asobo already said that they will continue to support MSFS. What else do you want?
PS. Don't forget to check for updates on your Windows XP machine. Not that you'll find any.
    C

You have all the details of the new engine in MSFS 2024 to come to the conclusion that its just better graphics?
    Please share.

Wow, what a bunch of cry babies!! .. Dont worry kids, everything is going to be just fine !!

The question is, what hardware configuration will be needed to run the beast ;-). 🥴

My only question is whether, additions aside, this will actually provide an opportunity to fix any of the more pervasive technical issues, such as:
    - the huge bag of DX12 bugs- outstanding issues with the basic flight model like the janky takeoff roll- the 1024 addon limit- that damned sunset horizon line
Hardly a complete list but that's the kind of stuff I care about. Don't JUST be a big DLC, that's all I ask...

My pain really for the developers who put countless hours and energy to creating addons and all. many were cut unaware of this new launch, presently making them want to halt development and product updates. in as much as asobo studios/ Microsoft released a FAQ about certain addons porting over to the 2024 version paid mostly. i still have my doubts on this. what happens to few developers who offered theirs as freeware?

And 2024 is developing by the same ASOBO unshaven pistachio smoothie bastards! 🤬 Who gave us a mountain turbulence at FL380!

My hope is that the DX12 bugfixes are at least backported to MSFS2020. The 2024 version can wait before it gets on my PC. Oh and there's no such thing as 1024 addon limit but it WAS a content manager bug which could not open and froze the game if you had more than 1024 addons in the community folder, but notice how I am using past tense to describe it, because it has been fixed in the latest AAU beta.

Back in the "good old days" MS released a new version every two years or so, and your old addons were rarely compatible. I think this was inevitable, if only from a business point of view. How is Asobo supposed to stay in business if all they do is give away free content? After four years I'm sure that the core of the sim could use a serious overhaul, one that warrants a new release. And before we get too upset, remember that we don't know what they will be charging current owners for the 2024 version. I think this is something to be excited about.

As a very small freeware airport developer myself, I think if the marketplace purchases are supposed to be carried over, then the SDK stuff will remain mostly same. The updates / changes will most possibly be additive, so you can use the new feature set the new sim offers, but it will continue to work with the current feature set as well. So, I am not too concerned about it. But I am concerned about the 3rd party pay ware developers halting the current work without there being a proper clarity among the customers. If MS/Asobo cannot convince the customer to stay invested in the MSFS 2020, then those developers even if they know that their stuff can seamlessly port over to the 2024 version may not be interested continuing the work fearing lackluster sales until 2024 comes out.
I am not too concerned about the new sim itself, but I have to agree about the poor communication bit. They could have drafted all the official stance on different things like upgradability, addon compatibility, what they are planning to do with the sdk, which aspects are being improved, what they are going to do with MSFS2020 and its base content like premium deluxe content etc., not just a hastily thrown together FAQ as a kneejerk response with vague information. And while these things could not be part of the trailer itself, they could have just added an official page containing this information just after the showcase ended. That way all this frustration, spread of FUD among the userbase, wild theory crafting could have been avoided or at least cut short and maybe the userbase would have welcomed the new sim.

They can't get this one right and they are going to release another version! Not for me!!

Probably that aspect will improve, I suspect, it's a much-needed update for the xbox usability. It seems the current sim really struggles in xbox when heavy airports and aircrafts are thrown into the mix.

Can you read we are not talking about p3d even if you using it as an example at least p3d works 110% and we are not talking about Microsoft unlike asobo. its not greedy if a customer spends money on a software that is not finished/ broken. it's people like you who have there head so far up ****** just the same as the discord

Oh that's great news, might be worth switching channels just for that; thanks for letting me know!

If Asobo could promise better performance in VR with this new version I'd consider buying it. However, after having three years to improve their sub-par performance in VR mode, I don't think it's a priority for them. For those of us that only fly this way it's a big deal. While I definitely appreciate the beautiful scenery in MSFS, the overall flight experience in Falcon BMS, DCS, or X-Plane12 ( it seems to be improving as it matures) is just better. I'd love to be able to pop into the wonderful PMDG 737 and have it perform smoothly at a large airport or fly the 172 over a large city without the FPS dropping into the twenties. As others have mentioned, we were led to believe this was going to be a ten year project. I always thought that Asobo would eventually concentrate their efforts toward VR and make this simulator truly a masterpiece. After reading this I'm disappointed but I'm holding out the hope that they won't completely give up on 2020 after releasing 2024.

You've have got to be kidding me... gonna be juggling with two different versions then with different feature sets?! Thanks!!!!!

Probably optimizing msfs2020 would be the better option. For example Multicore instead of Single Core performance and stuff like that

    indeed!

Loving this. ❤️ continues the work Asobo/ Microsoft it's a proud day. Flight sim doesn't belong to only one side of Aviation. Not everyone is into flying commercial aircraft, or VFR, many like helicopter, airship not everyone can afford a gaming PC, why is it a shade if Microsoft focus on certain parts of the aviation community one at a time. This is why i love what 2024 will bring. Why I alo love msfs2020
Can't wait for it to drop. People say msfs2020 is broken and they should fix what they have before dropping a new sim. Well isn't that what a new sim is suppose to do. Build on what we already have at somepoint in the future Microsoft was going to release a new simulator and the fact that mostly all my addon will work. Mostly because Microsoft can't speak for every single developer. People just love to complain when they don't have enough information.

It's the early stages people., wait until all is known before going crazy and limiting yourself .. for me and i say for me! This proves Microsoft is in it for the long run. Developers will go where ever the money is and right now this confirmation that Microsoft Flight Simulator is heading in the right direction it is already the number one simulator in just a few short 3 years why because of the work Microsoft and Asobo has put into it by listen and communicating with the entire aviation community..... yes we invested alot of time and money going fwd before I buy sencery or aircraft I will ask the dev if they plan on upgrading it to the new 2024. That's all
    J

BUT, is this new simulator going to be 3Rd party Download site friendly??? I'm not so sure we want to celebrate something here if that's not the case. Things seem to be moving toward console gaming so...
    F

If you followed the FS franchise over the years you would know this is a normal evolution of the simulator.
    F

That is a shame. I use a Nvidia 2060 Super and 32 gig of Ram and I normally enjoy a smooth experience.

Those of us that have been with MS Flight Simulator community franchise since 1998 to today, understand this is the normal evolution of the flight simulator series. Each iteration and release has brought some technical issue that are addressed over time, but the franchise did it's best to allow users to port over addons etc. I suspect the same will occur here. I am excited about the future of online aviation and look forward to the release of MSFS 2024. After FSX I really thought that was the end so I am happy to see ASOBO X Box and MS invest in the series.

They better damn include DVD drives or PREINSTALLED SSD.as in-store sale. It took me a whole damn month and Half to download the base file, we have a shitty internet service in my country. At some point I had to carry my desktop to and fro from my office .😂
    a

    how much would it cost???

Well, my problem wouldn't be, what they charge and if they charge at all, but the sole question, if the addons are compatible or aren't. The price of the sim itself has always been peanuts in contrast to what money and time I invested into addons - and those were the only reason why I used a certain sim at all. Should addons generally NOT be compatible with the new sim in a year, I fear that addon producers switch with a whole lot that hasn't come out yet for MSFS 2020, and what would have been very interesting. And then again we have a half complete sim, and another half complete sim. Great. Glad I still have P3d v4 and I still enjoy it very much. That is really complete, and I can rely on nearly everything to work.

That's why I bought and played FS2004 until I got 2020. I totally ignored FSX - I wasn't going to re-purchase hundreds of Euros worth of add-ons! Microsoft beware! If add-ons are really compatible, I will shell out the 100 bucks, but we'd better be sure.
    J

the sunset horizon line is there in the new trailer... make of that what you will

Why are people so mad lol

It's all certainly good that a new full-fledged simulator is being made. BUT, it would be much better if it was all as an addition to an existing game. For example, I have purchased add-ons (paid planes, airports, programs, etc.) worth more than 1000 euros!!! It will be very sad for me if you have to buy everything for the new game
Directx 12 is still in beta. The weather radar on many planes does not work!
    M

From what I have heard all addons from MSFS 2020 WILL be transferable
    r

How fantastic. Looks like they matured their engine, created a fresh build, and now after a few years, time for a new flight simulator program. Good to hear it's backward compatible. I'm guessing with the new engine it is easier to upgrade, and bug fix as the new engine should have solved some problems that were handled with band aids to the original code. This new program should increase the number of people getting interested in it. Big picture is - Microsoft is about making profit, nothing else. I can't wait to get my hands on it, and add it to the games I like to play.

(Meine Meinung)
English:I can't quite understand why a new simulator is coming. In the last few years, so much has been done to the current performance/graphics/flight models/game world etc., which has mostly gone to the end user (i.e. us) via free updates.
Especially with the background that most of the data I need to play is stored on any server anywhere else in the world and can be updated at any time.
In short: A "new" game will be released in 2024 at full price, which is based on the current simulator and which could theoretically be brought up to date via an update. (My opinion)

It's called FUD. Fear, uncertainty and doubt. MS/Asobo could have avoided some of it if they had communicated a bit better before this bombshell announcement.

Sure, but why release a new version based on the back of a current version which is majorly broken and missing some extreme foundational functions such as weather, WXR, ATC, AI - all of which worked fine back in FSX 16 years ago. Sounds like their way of backing out of a situation they no longer have any faith in themselves to fix or finish. Along with CLEARLY supporting casual players over life long simmers who if we're being honest are the ones who have been "paying the bills" all these years. Xbox users who get on and fly MP with their friends and do loop-di-loops and have chaotic flying like Airforceproud94 are not the ones putting hard $$ into the franchise. They'd be just as happy with a hot air balloon as with a below simple Cessna.

Clearly nobody agrees with you. Assuming you spent what, $120 for the Premium Deluxe version of the sim, and it didn't work well for you, you should have asked for a refund like any normal person would do.
But if you continued to invest in add-ons for a base sim that doesn't work well on your system for whatever reason, then it's not my head that's misplaced.

This is a Budlight move for Microsoft in my opinion.

I completely agree with you Nick, I really hoped to see updates in MSFS 2020 that would lead to a fix for a lot of the bugs that plague the current sim. I hoped to see some updates that would have brought to MSFS 2020, what they're putting out in the stand alone 2024 version. I total bugged-out money grab if you ask me. 😡

I guess I'm done purchasing addons for a while and technically I shouldn't have to repurchase new ones. The sim has been a buggy mess for a really long time. Attempting to include XBox users into the sim was the first major mistake with MSFS.
The trainer looks like FS2020 with more detail. Are we paying for a career mode? I'll stick with FS2020 because I have a feeling the new version will be a buggy mess also. Let's see where this take us.

Well, as a friend and supporter of many Freeware and 3rd Party Payware (non-Marketplace) developers; it reads to me like this: If your a payware dev with the luck of having your product approved to be in the MSFS Marketplace, that is not listed as a joint product with MS or Asobo's name attached to it (iniBuilds for example), then it's a hope and a prayer and a coin toss if your add-on will make the cut for inclusion to 2024. As for the non-Marketplace Payware add-ons that I and MANY others have invested in.... guess we'll be S.O.L. on it. 🤬

Agree. I'm tired of having to be an unpaid tester for games. Every year it seems to get worse and worse for players having to write out bug reports constantly.

I feel your pain. I wasn't able to use it for 6 months or so. It was more of a headache than it was worth. No problem until an update prevented it from running. I'm on a 2060 Super. When it does run, it runs good... IF it runs.

Just because you didn't play it because you felt that you couldn't trust it isn't Microsoft's problem. It's yours. Been playing crash free now for nearly a year sticking to all the major updates and carefully selecting how much is in my community folder so I don't bloat the sim.

Your comment is a complete joke, the world map isn't bugged, cars are fine on the ground, and the airliners function perfectly fine as a basic autopilot and even better in AAU2 and you know that AAU3 is literally this year as well, with a 99% chance it'll fix the A320neo, which barely needs fixing anyways because the FlyByWire mod exists. You're complaining about things that don't exist and haven't for a while.
Also, what doesn't work? What hasn't been fulfilled in the past 13 Sim Updates that still doesn't do it for you?

I bought into the hype because I thought there was going to be 10 years of constant enhancements for MSFS. I didn't want to have to purchase another sim again, and the countless addons purchased for a sim that will no longer be supported because of a 'new release' called 2024.
They claim items in the Marketplace will be compatible with FS2024. What about those that don't use the Marketplace? I don't use the Marketplace. So what about us? Are we going to have to pay again?
PMDG, Fenix, Orbx, Leonardo, etc. It gets expense fast and because we didn't use the Marketplace, we potentially have to pay double if we switch to FS2024 at any time in the future. I guess those developers will have to chime in soon and make a decision.

Won't have to if the core of the game remains the same with some other updates. The only thing I could find wasn't "10 years of support for the same game" it was "10 years of support for the franchise" and even then it was more implied. Neither one or the other. People blow that 10yrs out of proportion real quick.

Standalone? Will you have to be online to play? Do you need a supercomputer to play? So, basically you will need to buy a whole new computer just to play this new game!

Your comment is plain wrong.1) In the world map: for instance, the "estimated flight time" display on the world map is broken: you need to switch back to the main menu, then back to the map, then switch the plane (or route) for it in order to show up. This is clearly a bug (although a minor one). It has been introduced with SU1 and has never been fixed.2) The cars are floating over Williamsburg Bridge (NYC), to name just one small example.3) In none of the default airliners, auto-land (auto-flare) is working, just to give you one example, apart from many issues with other autopilot modes.
"Also, what doesn't work?" So you still want more examples?* Load/save still does not include saving the flight plan or flight plan progress or autopilot settings, only the plane's position, speed and very basic plane configuration.* "Active pause" still doesn't put airspeed in pause mode, leading to potential insta-death after unpause due to plane overstress.* There are still major outages like live weather outages for 3+ consecutive days in 2023.* A ton of other bugs and problems like terrain popping, horizon line visible through terrain, reflection issues (including the moon being always reflected as full moon whatever its phase), issues with ATC / pilot voices, display issues of live traffic, CTDs, etc. So take your pick!
And here I'm even leaving out all the minor and major inconviniences (plane preview loading time in world map, POI nameplate draw distance, still no on-demand in-flight addon scenery loading, and a ton more) that aren't really bugs per se but yes, I would have expected these improvements over the last 2.5 yrs for an AAA+ title.

I perfectly agree with you, spoonmaker. Finally people are making good addons and people are finally starting to be able to play without the constant fear of a CTD ruining their flight. But now Asobo takes everything we wanted and says "Here, you can have it, just pay another $120!" This is awful. They won't continue with the sim everyone loves and already has, they charge you for another one - and it'll keep happening, over and over and over again. They make a few improvements but when it's time for a big one, oh no! Pay up! This isn't how it should be - it's like charging you for a game update. It's barely a new sim.

I will have had MSFS2020 for less than two years when MSFS2024 releases - and the entire time it's been somewhat bad. This sim's life cycle is not over yet, so why make a new product? Just as we're seeing good new addons being developed and released, Asobo goes and says "Here - you asked for all this stuff. You can have it, just not as an update for the sim you have, as a 'bRaNd NeW sIm'! Pay me (and Microsoft too) another $120!" I'm severely disappointed with this, MSFS2020 could have turned into the greatest sim of all time if only Asobo hadn't moved on.

It's awful. It's like paying for a sim update: instead of fixing the product we have, they fix the stuff (but certainly not all of it) but then make us pay $120 for it. There had better be something killer they haven't showed us yet or I'm not buying it.

Well, shitty internet is one thing - but Microsoft downloader themselves is awfully buggy and inferior to anything like Steam or bittorrent - kind of stupid when they keep repeating after reaching 95% completion and then suddenly they reset back to 0. Luckily I got not quota limit.

If it's the same Team that's been trying to straighten out 2020, then we're in for a bumpy ride. I try not to be a big a rock-thrower here, but much of what flames our butt is that many of the issues we have should not be super difficult to repair. Most of my complaints were spawned after a "Mandatory Update" flashed across my screen.. Just one Example - The Flight-Hour Logger, mine stopped counting two years ago at 709 Flight Hours, and I have sent in multiple requests for a fix, even reloaded entire Sim... easily flew an additional 1500 flt hours since then,.... still broken. How hard should it be to fix a simple Counter... My humble opinion is that the 2024 version will probably have twice the growing pains that 2020 has had. All that said, I am still mesmerized by the Depth of the MSFS 2020 Sim, it's a Very Complex piece of interactive software... and God Bless the 3rd Party Freeware, and Aircraft and Scenery Developers, without whom this Sim would probably be dying a slow death... My suggestion would be a minimum 50% reduction in the price to move/upgrade to 2024 for all us beta testers with more than a year's service!

I have 750 hours flying time. I paid $60 for the standard version. That comes out to 8 cents an hour. What you all yakking about? I'm ok with paying again in 2024. I get more than my money's worth.

Uh, huh. So broken ATC, AI, weather, simconnect limitations don't bother you? You can't even edit airports, something possible since back in FS2002/FS2004 16-18 years ago. You just want a simplistic aircraft and some quasi "weather" with nice visuals? Should have just stuck using whatever you were using before MSFS2020 because you could just spend endless amount of on payware addons to bring it up to this level visually and you'd still have better weather, ATC, AI, no removing AI from simconnect limits, etc.. Stop pretending you're not bothered. Unless means nothing to you then it wouldn't matter anyways would it.

Half agree, half disagree. I specifically paid for the highest tier version of the game, and have purchased additional content, on the back of their "10 year of support" claims. While I am glad that they have already said 2020 content and purchases are very likely to transfer over to 2024 with no issues, i still feel a bit burned that this isn't just a content update, but say all the new aircraft are locked behind a paywall.
What to say of cross compatibility with 2020 and 2024?

Didn't see anything in the trailer that interested me other than what appears to be better graphics. I'm sure there will be a performance cost associated with the new graphics engine. More new hardware!!! Guess they're looking to widen the audience with what they were featuring. Probably not a bad thing, but I hope there is improvement in what was already in Flight Simulator 2020. Still lots of bugs and feature fixes to date not addressed in the current version. I do know that I am done with add-on purchases until MS2024 is out though. No sense in throwing money at what will be perceived as the previous version.

Back in the old days alot of addons were FREE they did not cost us nearly £70 a go for just one plane it racks up fast ASOBO could easily recoup money for expansions by making different quality aircraft for the sim like their ATR but no they decide to make an entire new sim and most of us have forked out hundreds on quality products from outside the sim... I for one will not be buying this until I know that ALL my addons will be compatible and I get my moneys worth.

Who feels now at ease buying any of these addons worth more than 50/60€ up to 90-100€. Not knowing if we'll have to buy them again or not or paying an update (3rd party devs claim they knew nothing btw). Considering the high price they have, my guess is many of us will stop buying 3rd party aircrafts until we know something clear about the future.

I'm very happy with the 2020 but I just stopped buying anything for it. Maybe XP will be my next move. I don't want to restart a sim every four years.

    1. Estimate flight time for me has been working fine 2. Is that an autogen bridge or a scenery bridge? If it's not a POI, why would you assume every bridge works?3. Complaining about the fidelity of default airliners at this point is real stupid. Nobody expected them to be anywhere near feature complete, nor were they marketed as that and that is expected for default aircraft in flight sims and has been for years. Look at FSX or others before this.
If you want to go down the list of things that don't work, we'd be here all day. Save Game loading is an issue, but if no 3rd party planes or addon makers want to support it, then why should you criticize Asobo? It's clearly possible for save states to work.
Turn off plane overstress, it's completely unrealistic in its own right.
Live Weather data wasn't even in XP11, it was only available with active sky which was a paid addon. In XP12 even live weather is not 100# accurate and can be hours old. You had a 3 day outage in 2023, oh no, 3 days, how does that affect you? Live weather works fine 99% of the time.
Haven't had a CTD in months.
There's 3rd party ways to fix nameplates like with //42 Flow (since you want to mention 3rd party).
Also, where is native live traffic support for Xplane? Show me where, yeah it's not exact, but neither is FR24 data either.

It's called "progress". In our high-tech world, if you don't embrace it - better get out of the way.
BTW, I sure hope it will include the FSX features that I miss most - instant replay, tower and flyby recordings.

@aputo Now you're just trolling so I see no point in continuing this discussion. You bring forward no serious arguments that would invalidate my critisism while calling my legitimate complaints "a joke" and "stupid" - disqualifying yourself.
If you are satifsfied with having an AAA+ title for $100+ which even after 2.5 years is that much feature-incomplete, bug-ridden, and unstable, call it "stupid" to demand for higher fidelity after paying $60 extra for a "premium" product, and excuse major problems by "but it's somewhat fixed by 3rd party", "but it doesn't matter because that other feature is broken, too" or "what about that other product which doesn't ... either?" then good for you for having such low expectations.
Most of us here see right through this blatent cash-grab and rightfully demand Asobo delivers on their original promises first before making new ones:

Sorry you got caught up in literally every game marketing scheme available. Do you complain that the latest PGA Tour doesn't have the shirt you want too even though you paid EA $90 for too?
The fact of the matter is the sun has gotten drastically better since release adding tons of features, support for helicopters, and more. Sorry that a car being 10ft off the ground on a bridge somewhere in America really gets you going in your flight simulator where you won't notice .3 seconds after flying by at Mach Jesus there bud.
We can get you a band aid for that hurt if you want.
Meanwhile nothing to be said for the literal mountains of free DLC that's dropped for a game that you paid (at Minimum) $60 for going on 4 years ago once 2024 releases including a bunch of free high fidelity aircraft.

It can certainly be their problem if the reasons are right. Similar to Spoon I've also had stretches where FS2020 was unplayable because of various issues introduced through an update (or existed at launch) that either removed something functional, which would have been community-wide, while other issues introduced were limited to a smaller group while lucky people like yourself were able to still enjoy the sim without issue. Some choice issues I can remember:
    - Citation Longitude having the same fuel tank capacity as the Citation CJ4, a Launch issue. Prevented the plane from being flown more than about 12 minutes. - Citation Longitude having dark-tinted windows, couldn't see anything at night. A launch issue, but was fixed (for me, at least) late last year.- KSFO causing an automatic plane crash when touching down on 19R or 19L, a Launch Issue. I don't know if this has been fixed or not because I have made sure to specify the other runways or I simply divert somewhere else if that gets assigned.- The King Air causing CTD on landing, a Launch issue, fixed, then reintroduced. My brother had this problem and I witnessed it over at his house: He'd simply crash to desktop once the plane touched down every time, regardless of the airport.- Wind-induced Crash-to-Desktop, patched-in issue. There was a period in 2021 when I was doing a tour of Europe where climbing out of an airport in any wind over about 15kts would cause the sim to crash. I had to disable live weather and use a low-wind preset, but it eventually got fixed in a patch. - During the version prior to the Wind Crash version, there was a Live Weather bug where airports were all placed underneath a near-perfectly-circular layer of dense fog. This rendered any plane without IFR capabilities un-usable in live weather since you literally couldn't see anything at all. This got patched in the version that introduced the Wind problem.
There are loads of issues that have plagued my own experiences in FS2020 that I know others have not experienced spanning since day 1, and there have been issues that others have had that I was fortunate enough not to have. In the above list of issues I had nothing in the community folder, updated as they were released, yet still ran into game-breaking issues on the regular and there were times where I knew even trying was probably going to result in a CTD and wasted time. I'm truly happy that somebody has had no issues but that doesn't mean the rest of us have. There are a LOT of people who have had a miserable time getting FS2020 to run stable and consistently, and I know more than a handful who have had the same thing Spoon's been through.

No idea why you're asking about something that's over a year away. SimBrief/FBW probably don't even 100% know the answer. That's like asking if your car will still run next year, how would anyone know? They can only guess.

This makes it clear FS2020 was a public beta. While in general I dont mind as long as everything stays compatible, I spend 2 years to balance the sim well on my system and I waited and waited for fixes....namely weather and atmosphere, biome areas, cloud types including turbulence, thunderstorms etc.
Having to wait for all of that until 2024 kind of ruins my motivation to fly until 2024 is released. Might give XP12 a try instead as its not nearly as hyped.

My hope is that this will be more of a finished product and not just another "beta" with continued updates that fix one thing and break another. And, making sure that the 3rd party developers are keep up to speed with changes to SDKs so that they can continue making the addons they have made for 2020. Without them, our simulator wouldn't be what it is today.

Here we are a few years into MSFS 2020 and there is a list a mile long of sim-stopping issues. CTD, ATC, Co-pilot, graphics, weather and many other issues that are not fixed yet. At this point I've put more than $1500 into this sim purchasing the sim and buying many planes, airports and other items from the marketplace - not to mention the peripherals and a new PC. What incentive do I have to buy the 2024 version knowing that the 2020 version is still very bug infested. I don't feel like doing hours and hours of troubleshooting to find out why my throttle just won't respond, taking out every single mod and adding them back in one by one, because MS has not other troubleshooting options. I don't want to beta test for MS again and to also pay them for that.

I've been using Microsoft software and hardware since 1985. Their promises of future compatibility really is true - sometimes. For instance, my company started developing forms using InfoPath 2010 and carried on through InfoPath 2013. When SharePoint 2016 came out, they told us we could safely continue developing new forms because they would provide us an upgrade path. They didn't. Now we're going to be out roughly 6 figures retraining our developers and re-creating our forms in PowerApps. So never fully believe anything. Hope they do it? Yes. Believe them? Not really.

This is not a sim release, more of a game release for those who find commercial airline flying a bit dull and tedious, yes, I'm talking about all the youngsters on Xbox who want a thrill and not a private pilots license. Watch the trailer and its all air sea rescue, mountain rescue, fire rescue, Volcano rescue, Flying into army camps, in many ways its COD or ARMA but tied up in a flight simulator "if that's what you want to call it"I for one will give it a miss as Microsoft have failed to sort out issues within MSFS2020, some as old as SU5. This GAME will do well amongst the many Teenagers out there.

It looks promising. I have designed many a skin, and I have alot of planes in my hanger I purchased. I can only hope I can use them in the new version without issue. I Hope things like flight dynamics won't be an issue, like when you port an FSX plane over to 2020.

I'm not interested to the pilot carreer. I wish a simulator that offers wonderful sceneries, like the real world.

Having been on the initial Alpha and beta test program for MSFS 2020, I was continually reporting bugs and issues, 90%+ of which were just plain ignored or brushed under the carpet by ASOBO. After so much development time, we still have ridiculous bugs and issues! Like the horizon bug and awful quantum tunnelling road traffic, zipping in and out of other dimensions and traveling under the terrain or under bridges instead of on them! Buses, cars and trucks driving for a mere 20 mts before vanishing again and other vehicles pop into existence like magic, its awful and totally immersion breaking! Compare the ugly road traffic in MSFS to X planes...X-plane has great road traffic, that actually drives on the roads for miles! Then we have the ignored requests for a basic simple FLYBY camera button, and tower views and decent zoom options without zooming the whole world when we want to zoom into our aircraft etc. Instead we got the bizarre convoluted and irritating drone views, which are only really used by Youtubers to make painstakingly detailed scripted videos, and have no real practical use in the sim for most users. The lack of water effects!... limited to FSX style rubbish 2d texture wakes! Whilst MSFS is a great sim, its also a frustrating and disappointing one, and now we are expected to support more of the same in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024! I have purchased and started using X-Plane 12 now, it still has a lot of issues, but i feel its much better in so many ways. The constant irritating 'updates' in MSFS haven't really fixed anything meaningful, just distracted users with more fancy eye candy world addons, rather than fix serious issues and its a pain getting so many all the time!
I can see where they are heading with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, more 'things' to do, more 'adventures' and more 'challenges', = more 'fun' etc...Its a great idea and will fulfil wild dreams for many, but the horizon bug is still there!...so too the limited engine management and avionics will still be there, the lack of any decent water masks like coral reefs and mud/sand banks, will still be there, and so will all the other 'unfixed' issues that the community has had to fix or endure, issues we have been constantly and patiently complaining and hoping will be sorted for years now, but ASOBO just ignored us all! ASOBO, don't listen to anyone, they just do their own thing, I realised that as a beta tester. Make no mistake, this flight simulator will become more of a 'fun' game than a sim. Which is fine if that's what some consumers want. It does look great in the videos. But having been an unpaid tester for MSFS 2020 and invested heavily in it, I don't think I will be doing the same for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. I wont be investing more time or more cash into supporting ASOBO in another bug ridden same sim again, they don't listen to the community, they just cherry picked what they wanted to fix, so am done with this new 2024 'game'.

As a Ex military serviceman it , not a welcome annoncement . Major part of the marketplace are Civillan aircraft with a very limited option in military aircraft and some are just a joke . With the F4 Phantom and Tornado F3 in the works doe's this mean that there going to be dropped project or further delayed . Bugs are a continues thing with updates and to be honset i'd need be able to have a flight without a issue either takeoff or landing one i get up to altitude i'm fine even with reseting my settinghs and all . basic flying is problem not the fact mirosoft and asobo are just wanting cash and taken the users for a ride . Exciting news everyone it your money we want for minimum improvements and effort . IT'S BS

FSX did not work fine and FSX did not even come close to supporting FSX the way MSFS2020 does. I don't know what you're talking about with respect to extreme foundational functions missing, when I have addons that take care of those issues you cited. MSFS2024 is great, and 2024 will be even better! Cheers.

You disabled comments in the newest announcment/update because you are cowards apparently and a insist on alientating your community and users as well as mod creators. This isn't the first time you've guys done some shit to try and make people mad. Listen to your users unless you guys really do want this site to die. This update is webpage update is horrible. It's not that it's bad. It's awful. It actually hurts my eyes to look at with the new grid view.
