Why doesn't Milviz/Blackbird release a complete and fully realised version of their iconic Jet ?

Hello, I think it was just a question from Thom and nothing else so calm down. What is the best ? A free but maybe not complete version or a very good version for some money ? I think the answer is simple : a very good version for free but it's something rare. "It's not really good but it's free" is not what I like, I like better a very good plane for about 30€.

It' s just marketing - increase public attention - be discussed - be argued like you do :-)

We've no intention of intruding on anyone's 'free feelings' and remain just a little bit curious as to why Milviz / Blackbird would 'license' their Sabre instead of reintroducing their version of the Sabre to FS 2020. We appreciate your combined efforts, (thanks Mr Laars), to bring this much loved Aircraft to our beloved Sim.Kind Regards from Thom and the Beloved Co Pilot.

Thank you very much for the contribution, this kind of classic airplanes were missed. In my opinion, and being constructive, some minor details could significantly improve the product:- Shadows- Engine heat trail- Sample photos

Incase you did not know, Milviz/Blackbird released all their old FSX aircraft for free on their website. This is an independent labor of love. I owned it for FSX and had the unofficial fix for it to make the canopy work in P3D and it is a great looking aircraft and you can't beat it for free. Since is a conversion of course there will be some flaws but you know what? It's free and you are not wasting any money by checking it out. So do that before you criticize some one elses efforts. Also, Milviz has said that most of those aircraft won't be made again from MSFS so this is all you're going to get for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the info regarding Milviz's generous gift of their Aircraft. We also flew the Sabre in FSX and would be loathe to criticize anybody who has the ability to create these Gems and not least the author of this Aircraft. Please be assured that this was an only an observation and nothing more.

It states in plain English that it is not VR compatible, and it's underlined to boot.

I cannot speak to whether Milviz will create a full version of this in the future, as I am not affiliated with them. I created this version entirely for my friends and I to enjoy, and Milviz was kind enough to let me share it publicly with just a couple simple conditions, so I am sharing it here. All of the conversion work was done by one person in my free time.

Excellent work, we all thank you, you have been forward-thinking and visionary since this jet was not in FS2020, nor is there a conversion of the Learjet 35 or the English Electric Canberra bomber in this simulator, two world icons that are conspicuous by their absence, Do you dare to convert any of them from FSX?

To answer your question "Why hasn't Milviz released it?" They've chosen to work on other aircraft at the moment. There's no reason they may not choose to release it in the future. If they do decide to, they're looking at probably thousands of Man-Hours of work to get it into the shape they'd want to release it in.

Hi, I'm confused by your comment on .dds vs png.dds. They're both the same format and there's no difference between them, per se. For whatever reason, when Asobo converts the base png files to dds in the compilation process, they keep the .png as part of the filename. But, content-wise, a .dds file is a .dds file. The filename does matter though, since it's tied to the definition of the gltf/bin surfaces. Filenames do have to remain the same for each texture.
Granted, yes, there are different .dds formats, but they are all pretty much interchangeable, except in the case of normal files, which require a specific .dds format, which I wish Asobo would document in the SDK (I haven't found the documentation for it yet anyway). (not comp files, they are just regular rgb dds files like albedo files)
Thanks for doing this work, btw, nice job!

Hello,First off, thank you for this great download, it's my #1 aircraft in the sim.I have a quick question about using other downloads with this, like FS RadioPanel and Axes & Ohs VOR/LOC HSI gauges. The DME functions work, but not the CDI needle? It works on other payware airplanes like the Aeroplane Heaven P-51, but something seems to be missing in your F-86 conversion. Is there an easy solution to this as it seems your F-86 is not receiving the VOR/LOC signal from MSFS.Thanks again,Ed
