Description
Sarajevo International Airport (IATA: SJJ, ICAO: LQSA) is the main international airport in Bosnia and Herzegovina, serving its capital Sarajevo. First regular flights to Sarajevo using an airfield in the suburb of Butmir begin in 1930.
At the beginning of the Bosnian War, the airport was put under control of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). When the regular flights were stopped, the JNA evacuated some 30,000 people.
After JNA left, the airport was for a while under control of Bosnian Serb forces and in June 1992, they handed over the airport to the UN to use it for humanitarian purposes.
The airport re-opened to civilian air traffic on 16 August 1996 and has since been renovated and slowly restored. Since the Dayton Agreement in 1995, the airport has a commercial flight business which includes Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Air Serbia, Croatia Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and others.
I happened to worked for a year around 2011 for B&H Airlines and flown around Bosnia with Fahrudin Krestalica with his C172. Greetings to Cpt. Fahrudin Krestalica and Cpt. Amir Baralic. I always wished to do some scenery of Sarajevo Airport and finally after a long and heavy health issues I managed to do it.
This custom Sarajevo Airport scenery made for MSFS 2020 users having aprons, parkings, taxiways and taxi signs, markings updated according to current charts and satellite images for the needs of Vatsim and Ivao Members.
My own models “based only on limited internet images”, default objects & lightnings added in order to enrich layout of apron. I also attached GSX profile file to the scenery. Pushback directions are set for RWY29 as it is only used for TO.
Try it, download the package then unzip , move or copy the “lqsa-sarajevo” folder into your sim’s community folder and move or copy “lqsa-7u__szx5” GSX profile to “C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\GSX\MSFS\” folder.
Download Options:
- Flat Main Version: Choose this if you want a completely level surface across the entire airport. Includes the GSX profile.
- Bump Version: Choose this if you prefer to keep the original MSFS 2020 terrain and elevation profiles intact. Note: GSX profile is not attached to this version.
- Missing parking labels from parking 1 to 4 corrected, airport beacons and a static B&H Airlines ATR72-600 (E7-AAE Mostar) added, GSX profile file attached.
V2 scenery is adatepted for MSFS2024 in addition to small corrections and object implementations.
If it works for you too or if you find useful then enjoy! Or else just delete it from your community folder.
