SAWO is the acronym of the ICAO/ICAO code that identifies this small airport in the city of USHUAIA, Tierra del Fuego, Argentine Republic. (here)

A little history:

It began as an auxiliary station of the Argentine Navy around 1933 to become Naval Air Station Ushuaia a decade later (1949). In 1970 the runway of the Ushuaia Naval Air Base was extended to 1400 meters, and then in 1987, it reaches the current 1697 meters.

It began to have regular services around 1947 (DC-3 Aeroposta Argentina) and then in its place the new company Aerolineas Argentinas (1950) linking Buenos Aires with several cities in Argentine Patagonia. At the end of the 1960s, the first Twin Otter DHC-6 and Fokker F-27 (LADE) appeared.

In 1984, Aerolineas Argentinas operated with the Boeing 737-287 (mod. Advanced) where it continued until 1995, when the new international airport of Ushuaia SAWH was inaugurated.

It currently functions as an aerodrome, headquarters of the Ushuaia Naval Air Base (BAU) Almirante Berisso, the Ushuaia Aeroclub and helicopter tourist services.

Stage

This is an improved version of the SAWO airport for entertainment and gaming purposes, since it has incorporated runway lights, taxi, papi, as well as buildings and some models of aircraft (super etendard) of the Argentine Navy that do not operate in this base. .

It is intended to be flown VFR (I think that has not changed so far). Enjoy the approach bordering the city from Mount Olivia towards the Ushuaia prison following the trajectory of route 3, turning left towards runway 16, crossing the city and the port.

3D building models were created, submerged areas in the coastline were corrected (the port was made complete), much of the scenery was terraformed, 4 missing docks were added, a fuel storage plant was added and some references for VFR , such as the red-roofed factory. It is mainly an airport so the possibility of improving some reference points in the city will be seen.

The idea was to do it initially for me, and I want to share it with you.

Surely there will be a lot to correct or add in future versions.

Un poco de historia:

Comenzó siendo un estación auxiliar de la Armada Argentina alrededor de 1933 para convertirse una década después en Estación Aeronaval Ushuaia (1949). En 1970 se extiente la pista de la Base Aeronaval Ushuaia a 1400 mts, y luego en 1987, alcanza los 1697 metros actuales.

Se comenzó a tener servicios regulares hacia 1947 ( DC-3 Aeroposta Argentina) y luego en su lugar la nueva empresa Aerolíneas Argentinas (1950) uniendo Buenos Aires con varias ciudades de la patagonia argentina. A fines de los 60 aparecen los primeros Twin Otter DHC-6 y Fokker F-27 (LADE).

En 1984, Aerolíneas Argentinas opero con el Boeing 737-287 (mod. Advanced) donde continuo hasta 1995, cuando se inauguro el nuevo aeropuerto internacional de Ushuaia SAWH.

Actualmente funciona como aeródromo, sede de la base aeronaval Ushuaia (BAU) Almirante Berisso, del Aeroclub Ushuaia y servicios turísticos de helicópteros.

 

El escenario

Esta es una versión mejorada del aeropuerto SAWO para fines de entretenimiento y de juego, ya que se incorporo luces de pista, taxi, papi, ademas de edificios y algunos modelos de aviones (súper etendard) de la Armada Argentina que no operan en esta base.

Esta pensado para volarlo VFR (creo que eso no ha cambiado hasta ahora). Disfruten de la aproximación bordeando la ciudad desde el monte Olivia hacia el presidio de Ushuaia siguiendo la trayectoria de la ruta 3, virando a la izquierda hacia la pista 16, atravesando la ciudad y el puerto.

Se crearon modelos de edificios 3D, se corrigieron zonas sumergidas en la linea costera (el puerto se hizo completo), se terraformo gran parte del escenario, se agregaron 4 muelles que faltaban, se agrego una planta de almacenamiento de combustibles y algunas referencias para VFR, como ser la fabrica de techo rojo. Se trata principalmente de un aeropuerto por lo que se vera la posibilidad de mejorar algunos puntos de referencia en la ciudad.

La idea fue hacerlo en principio para mi, y quiero compartirlo con ustedes.

Seguramente habrá mucho para corregir o agregar en próximas versiones.
