    Description

    Community requested. as this airport is having the runway exstentsion and taxi exstentsion I have appiled these edits. Added the ATC tower, replaced 3 hangars, 2 fuel trucks and 2 fuel tanks. 

     

     

    Waterford Airport (Irish: Aerfort Phort Láirge) (IATA: WAT, ICAO: EIWF) is located in Killowen, 4 NM (7.4 km; 4.6 mi) southeast of Waterford. It serves southeastern Ireland. The airport is operated by Waterford Regional Airport plc.

    Its single scheduled route, operated by VLM Airlines—which used Waterford as its only Irish airport and kept a base there—was discontinued from 13 June 2016 as VLM went out of business, leaving the airport without any scheduled traffic.

    On 11 June 2019, the Irish government approved a grant of €5 million together with €7 million from local investors and councils. Included in this, is the extension and widening of the existing runway to 2280 metres x 45 metres wide (bigger than the runway at Cork Airport) along with taxiway widening and terminal extension to cater for larger airlines such as Ryanair and Aer Lingus. It is hoped that this extension will boost tourism revenue for the county of Waterford in the long run.

    On the 4th February 2022, planning permission was granted by An Bord Pleanála for the runway extension and associated works. Construction is set to be completed by the end of 2022.

    I can see very little difference between this add-on airport and the default. I've gone land side to see the name of the airport and it's not there.
    The only noticeable difference is the sign for the runway shortly before you enter it. HOWEVER as far as I can see the signage is wrong and the runway numbers at the end of the runways are wrong.
    RWY 21 is signposted to the left and RWY 03 to the right.
    I noticed this when taking off from Rwy 03 when I spotted Tramore Bay right in front of me, but I should have seen Waterford city. This mean that I couldn't fly my flightplan on departure. I removed the airport and the default airport has the correct runway numbers.

    Hi Tony. I have the exact same problem. I did DM Icecoldref to let him know of the issue as soon as I noticed it, which was over a year ago. Hopefully Ice will have another go at it in the near future...Work has finally started in Waterford on the runway extension 03 / 21 EIWF.

    No wonder he never came back to improve it further with your spoilt, entitled attitude. People do this for FREE and you're whining like he's somehow let you down. Some people.....

    Before you fly here check the runway numbers. I downloaded and installed this very recently - 15/11/23 and the runway numbers and signage are both the wrong way around.
