DC Designs F/A-18A Hornet Patch up date. - Image 1

    Description

DC Designs F/A-18A Hornet Patch update.

This is a self-made patch for the DC Designs F/A-18 Legacy Hornet. Adding more detail to the current Liveries and the base of the aircraft.

Many visual errors have been corrected and many new decals and aircraft markings have been added. Such as a correction to the folding ladder to be on the left side only, Vents and missing Grills in and around the intakes. Added Rescue marking and Electrical warning signs have been added. And a heavier line was used to show the panel working due to heavy use.

This is still under development. And a working process. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy our work.

To install simply download. Unzip it to your desktop. Once on your desktop and copy the whole folder into your Community folder.

Replace what you have already installed using the DC Designs F18 model.

If you wish to make a backup of your original files by all means please do so.

This folder, it includes Replacement textures along with an extra file that adjusts the way the flight model and the way the Hornet sits on the ground to correct its stance.

Most of the Liveries that are in the DC Designs Hornet Pack are F/A-18B's and not the A model. But all have been adjusted to look the part.

We hope you enjoy our New update.

And as a reminder, there will be a Paint kit available for this model soon.

    Kindest Regard to all.

    The Groom Lake Team.

not sure how to deploy the foldable ladder, i can seem to find a switch or lever for it neither on the left or right.

You are better off asking DC Designs this question. As they are the ones who converted the Model to FS2020. All We have done is Sharpen up the Textures and played with the Avionics. And it's been some time since we've used that model as we've moved on to something new.

Right rear console. There should be three switches.

Hi, this patch has to be added to the DC design plane or the DC design has to be deleted? Thanks, Fulvio

Download The DC Designs Hornet and install it like normal. This patch updates the base Liveries and performance of the model only. So before copying the files in this Patch to the Hornets folder and Replacing them. Make sure to make backups of the the Originals. Or Just keep the Downloaded DC Designs Hornet in a safe place for later use. This is a simple copy and Replace all files. Hope that helps.

Good update on the most recent patch. Was literally unflyable for me before it, would stall at any power setting minus full afterburner.

Gotta give some feedback of this 2.0. I've been using this patch since it's release because the liveries are amazing and the small fix how it sits on the ground was necessary. I was excited that this was an ongoing project to improve the flight model too but the huge negative for me this 2.0 patch is that it likes the Super Hornet now imo. The high alpha ability seems to be totally gone and it sinks like the Asobo Super Hornet now removing all the fun. This is not how it happens in IRL even low speeds if you look at numerous demos from air shows. The wobbling at high speed fixes were necessary tho and I love that, good job on that. Also how the flaps fix was amazing!

If you are not gonna convert back to the old high alpha can you instruct me on what I need to replace on flight_model.cfg so I can keep your speed changes but copy & paste the old manuevariblity from the past files I backupped?

Lastly a question for the future updates, will you be fixing the strobe light problem on this? I disable strobe lights for the C-model always because it leaves traces of light on chase cam.

Thanks for your feedback man. Very much arrested. Most of what I've worked on was a bit of a hit-and-miss. I'm only guessing at most for what I think needs improving. Doing things like a High Alpha to me on the other model was too unstable. And I couldn't get power at all. I was looking for a more stable flight from going from one place to the other. And not be battling stalling on landings as it was before. The thing I'm finding is what I test on my machine. Something doesn't work on others. One thing I wanted was to go low and go fast. Four weeks of work just trying to work out what was what and multi-tasking the textures at the same time. I just felt how I've got them set up now. It's far better than what it was. Or so my teammates tell me. So there happy I guess. Hope you made a backup of the original lol ;) P.S. If you still have the original flight_model. Copy the contact points and flaps from the new flight_model to the original and You will still have your high alpha. And Keep the engines from the original DC Designs release. And As to your last question. I'm unsure what our plans will be just yet.

I will be following your project since I like that the DC Designs F/A-18C is totally free to be fixed and modified by the community :) I wish you good luck with the project and I'm gonna give some feedback in the future in the future too if you want it :) I love flying the C-model in DCS & MSFS.

So I don't know how much you'll be working this, but do you have plans to make more variants?

As in, an F/A-18C with the actual antennae that make it a different model? B/D variants?

Not at this stage. We're just trying to correct the main flight dynamics and liveries for the base of the model. There have been discussions at bring the B model over to FS2020. But it's Early days yet.

Added to 2.0 patch This Patch Includes better flight Dynamics and better handling. wobbling at high speed has been removed. And it sits much better on the ground compared to the original realise. The Blue Angels Livery has been updated and added to the pack along with the Slim lines being camouflaged so they do not appear on the Blue Angels aircraft. The Flaps have been corrected so they do not cut through the fuel tanks when fully extended. The best speeds are around 350 to 450 knots. but seem much more stable in take-off and climb. The best Take off speed is around 160 knots.
