    Description

    After a very long time in development, as well as a lot of learning along the way, my Spitfire Mk VB has finally been released to the flight simulator!

    This is still a WIP so expect some missing features, as well as some textures not being up to par with Microsoft Flight sim standards.

     

    NOT CURRENTLY COMPATIBLE WITH MSFS2024

    NATIVE MSFS 2024 UPGRADE CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS AND WILL BE ARRIVING SOMETIME IN 2025

    Features: 

    • Working flaps
    • Working speedometer and altitude gauge 
    • Canopy, door and equipment hatch can be opened

    • Intergrated WW2 pilot model.
    • Full start up procedure.
    • More instruments.
    • More variants and liveries. (I am fully open to requests and suggestions).

    Liveries included in the package:
    - Fictional D-Day livery (With clipped wing variant)

    - Real Norwegian Spitfire Mk VB livery of 332 Norwegian squadron (With clipped wing variant)

    - Desert livery BR487 of 497 squadron flown by Sgt Clive Percival Lloyd (with trop filter)

    - Donald Duck livery from 303 polish squadron, flown by Jan Zumbach

    - Fictional livery based on the Mk 9 Pink PR (Photo Recon) livery 

    -American livery BL766 of 336th fighter squadron


    Aircraft variants included in the package:

    - Standard Mk VB variant

    - Mk VB clipped wing variant

    - Mk VB tropical variant

    - Mk VB photo recon variant

    (Disclaimer: These all use the same flight model currently, however I am working on giving them separate flight models eventually)

     

    The Spitfire Mk VB was a fighter during WW2. It was the most produced Spitfire ever with over 6,464 units produced. This version of the Mk V, the VB was fitted with two 20mm cannons, and 4 .303 calibre machine guns.

    The Spitfire Mk V was fitted with the merlin 45 v12 engine with 1,440 horse power.

    (Small updates and patches will still come when they are needed)

    Added cockpit detail to improve visual quality, as well as some minor exterior tweeks.

    Nice mod. The cockpit is nicely detailed i believe to be accurate. However entering VR mode I'm sitting on the tail requiring a jog forward and down into the actual pilot seat. Not a big issue and once the adjustment is done it sticks from that flight session. To end: thank you so much for an excellent craft!

    Hey! Thank you for this feedback. Unfortunately I will no longer be updating this aircraft for MSFS2020 as I am instead focusing on revamping it for 2024 when I get around to working on it. I'll make sure VR works as it should in that module.

    How do I fly this? Plane just veers off the runway and there is no rudder authority or wheel authority. It also banks. I can't take off

    The engine tries to pull the plane to the left on high RPM. To counteract this you need to apply throttle gradually while using the right rudder to stabilise the aircraft and keep it on the centre line. This should also keep it from banking on the ground.

    I see. My mistake was that I flew it during that big storm over Ireland and Wales, which blew me everywhere.

    Very good, up there with payware Spitfires.

    Worst icons, though. They only show the front of the wing so can't tell the liveries apart!

    For a Freeware WIP. This is STONKING GOOD! Not exactly Flying Iron. But Definatly fills the WW2 Fighter Collecting Itch I have. I am having trouble hiding the stick. Unless I'm missing the clicking area. :D

    There's no way to currently hide the stick. But now that you've said it I think it might be a good idea to implement. So I'll see what I can do with it for the next update! Thanks.
