I am a new developer and long time user of Microsoft Flight Simulator, going all the way back to FS2000.

I have been working on the core code for this app for the last 6-12 months, it is quite complex under the hood.
I have decided it is stable enough to release a public test version so people can try it and provide feedback for improvement.

The basic idea is to get a rating or a score when you land. It keeps track of past landings, and shows stats as well.

THIS APP IS ONLY TESTED ON ENGLISH VERSIONS OF WINDOWS. Non English language settings may produce unexpected app crashes.

The app deeply ties in with the SimConnect SDK, using pure C++ and wxWidgets toolkit for Windows only. It is compiled against the FS2020 latest SimConnect version, but it seems to work just fine on FS2024 with zero code modifications. It is compiled as a 64bit x86-64 only app.

It gathers data from many SimConnect simvars in realtime. By default it will give a landing rating based on the vertical feet per minute and the max g-forces at the moment of touchdown, but you can also choose to rate by vertical fpm only if you wish. It will downrate if you land too hard, or on a dirt surface, but it will uprate you if you do a good landing on a snow or ice landing strip for instance. It will only give a score if you land on a designated runway or landing strip depending on the surface type. It supports a wide range of aircraft in the sim, but only aircraft, not helicopters for instance.

The 4 letter ICAO airport code when on the ground is reported by SimConnect SDK, it only reports the ICAO code so i created a custom database with over 1600+ airports around the world, with the name, location, elevation (ft) etc. Many airports are covered but i'm not sure how accurate the data is. By default the settings are enabled to show more debug information about the airport, but if you find any with incorrect information regarding the name, location data, elevation data etc, you will see it in red so it is easy to spot, please let me know. I will update the airports database over time, but i need to know if you find any airports that i have not added, or have incorrect data. The majority seem to be correct though. 
Many international, regional and remote mining airports are included (particularly Australia as I live there), throughout Australia, New Zealand & Oceania, Europe, North & South America, Africa, many islands as well. Update: I will add more airports over time, but not 50000 for instance, just a few thousand maximum so that most of the airports people tend to use are covered.

Upcoming Features (Not necessarily in the next update but coming in future releases)

• Fixes for weird characters in place of special symbol or emoji characters in non English versions of Windows, such as French
• Accurate realtime 360° spinning weather gauge (might not be in the next update, but currently in development)
• ActiveSky integration for those that use it. This could include custom weather event injection, such as a sudden downdraft just before touchdown...could you survive where Delta 191 didn't?

Please give me your feedback and comments about these upcoming features and enhancements in deveopment. Keep in mind this app is only focused on landing. A future app will build on this foundation to provide a full in flight monitoring and scoring system, including the landing as just one component of a larger system and app. All of these capabilities are now built into the core of the app core already allowing for easy expansion later on.

My goal is to over time create the most accurate as possible landing and in flight monitoring app, including the most accurate as possible weather monitoring. The weather monitoring system I have developed should allow you better plan your approach with more accurate realtime weather data as text labels and as a spinning weather gauge tht update in realtime as weather changes.

There has been so much discussion about the in game weather since the release of FS2020, so hopefully this app will help you to eventually have acurate realtime weather data for a smoother landing and flight and approach planning.
