Viracopos-Campinas International Airport (IATA: VCP, ICAO: SBKP) is an international airport in the city of Campinas, in São Paulo. It is an important air traffic hub in Brazil and, by surface area, the largest air cargo hub in South America. Viracopos is the hub for AZUL Linhas Aéreas and is also the main air cargo hub for LATAM Cargo. Since São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport is operating at full capacity and cannot be expanded further, Viracopos airport is also important for passenger traffic. Located 17 kilometers from downtown Campinas and 95 kilometers from downtown São Paulo, Viracopos is the second largest air cargo terminal in the country. Its cargo terminal has an area of ​​81,000 m² and accounts for approximately 18% of the total cargo movement recorded at Brazilian airports. It is the main international airport in the interior of São Paulo and also serves the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. Viracopos has also shown significant growth in the volume of passengers transported since 2008, with the start of operations by Azul Linhas Aéreas. In 2012, 8.8 million passengers were transported from the terminal. In 2014, almost 10 million were transported, and in 2015, Viracopos reached 10.3 million passengers. The volume of passengers and cargo is growing rapidly, with the completion of expansion and modernization works at the complex. After all, given its strategic position in the national aviation sector, Viracopos, along with Brasília Airport and Guarulhos Airport, was part of the first package of airport concessions carried out by the Federal Government in February 2012.

On February 6, 2012, the Consórcio Aeroportos Brasil, formed by Triunfo Participações e Investimentos, UTC Participações and the French company Egis Airport Operation, won the Viracopos auction with a bid of R$3.821 billion and will be responsible for managing and modernizing the airport complex over the next 30 years. After the auction, on June 14, 2012, Concessionária Aeroportos Brasil Viracopos signed the airport concession contract, announcing investments of R$9.5 billion in the expansion and modernization of the complex during the 30-year concession period. Of this total, R$3 billion will be invested by 2015 in the construction of a new passenger terminal designed to transport 25 million passengers per year.
