    Description

    This add-on brings a variety of fixes and enhancements to the Madison area, improving both accuracy and immersion when flying over the city.

    Fixed Bridges & Crossings

    • Dozens of street and highway crossings have been corrected so they no longer appear submerged, a major improvement near downtown where John Nolen Drive spans Monona Bay.
    • Several railroad bridges have also been updated in the same way.
    • The Beltline (US12/18) causeway/bridge has been brought back above the surface of the lake and now includes lighting, offering much more realistic visuals during flights over Madison (especially at night).
    • Hundreds of docks along lakes Mendota and Monona have been uncovered and made visible.

    Capitol Square Improvements

    • Night lighting added to the Capitol dome and facades
    • Removed messed up satellite trees from around the Capitol and replaced with 3D tree models
    • Street lighting added around Capitol Square

    New 3D Models & Landmarks

    • WMTV and WISC television towers on the city’s southwest side.
    • Satellite dishes and radome atop the UW-Madison Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC).
    • A Lake Mendota buoy (from SSEC data).
    • Boathouse and lighthouse at Tenney Park, with a functioning flashing beacon.
    • A communications tower added on top of City Hall.
    • Construction cranes positioned along East Washington Avenue, the UW Campus, and University Boulevard.

    Recommended Pairing

    For a more complete experience, combine this mod with my KMSN Airport Enhancement, which includes accurate gates, jetbridges, and a detailed parking garage model.

    Installation

    1. Unzip the file.
    2. Place the js-madison-wisconsin-bridges folder into your MSFS community folder.

    Compatibility

    • Created and tested with MSFS2020.
    • Compatibility with MSFS2024 has been reported by users.

    Even with CU15 (released recently for MSFS2024), this add-on still fixes some of the under-water roadways and adds some nice features mentioned by the designer. There doesn't appear to be any weird conflicts with CU15. Definitely strongly recommend this free add-on!

    Thanks Blue3272! It looks like the update I pushed earlier today accidentally had the wrong file. I've just pushed another update (same version number) that should now have the correct file. Sorry for the hassle, and glad to hear that you're enjoying the scenery.

    Any plans to make compatible with 2024? Also, any plans to incorporate the Wisconsin Aviation FBO building on the east ramp? KMSN is special to me as this is where I got my ppl the august before 911.

    Have you tried running this scenery mod in 2024? If so, did it work? Several users of my other mods have let me know that they run well in 2024, but it's hard to say for sure if there will be something that conflicts. As for the FBO building, check out my KMSN mod, which does indeed include hangars and buildings for the east ramp area.

    I'll give that scenery a try and let you know. As for the east ramp buildings at KMSN, the main FBO building for Wisconsin Aviation has a unique shape to it that will probably require a custom build. Here's a link to give you an idea: https://www.wisconsinaviation.com/FBO-Madison

    Update: I flew the Black Square Bonanza around the city in VR, and although I don't get the best resolution (Reverb G2), every thing seemed to work. The bridges, water level, Tenney Park Buoy house looked good. Makes for a more immersive tour of the city! Oh...and Morey Field looked good too! Thanks for your work on this. I live in the Phoenix area now, but it's nice to reminisce on my life in Madison 16 years ago!

    Thank you for this! Any chance it might be expanded to include proper modeling/placement of the Endeavor Bridge on the AirVenture Oshkosh VFR arrival?
