Huge day for the SkyHigh Network! Today, the SkyHigh Network held the SkyHigh Genesis Event, our first server test, where members of our staff team gathered to do the first group flight live on the Network. Routeing from Farnborough to Heathrow, we did some nice formation flying with the Airbus family, comprised of the A350, A330, and A320, over the city of London. It would be a lie to say that the test went completely smoothly (we did lose a staff member along the way 😆), but it was great fun and a good learning opportunity that we'll definitely use to improve the Network over the next few weeks!

This might not seem like a big deal; after all, you've been able to do things like this on other networks for literal decades. But, you have to keep in mind that major networks like VATSIM or IVAO have huge infrastructures and software that were built and continuously improved over the course of the last 30 years, starting in 1997 with SATCO. We did not. We also do not have thousands of dollars to pour into servers every month. Over the past months, we've been able to create from scratch all that infrastructure and software to run such a network with a basically server-less design. For us, seeing months of effort finally pay off and having a network that runs latency-free enough to precisely excute close formation flying is a great joy! And we hope you too are excited by this.

And for the ones that don't know yet what the SkyHigh Network is, we are a up-and-coming, completely free virtual aviation network, alternative to VATSIM or IVAO, that aims to increase realism and immersion by filling the human gaps with ultra-realistic AI pilots and ATC, and to create a knowledgeable community by making learning easier and more fun than ever!
