Description
Loburn Abbey Airfield, New-Zealand, for MSFS
Real-life airstrip, ICAO code NZLA
Version 1.1
--Description--
Loburn Abbey is a small, private airfield in the north of the Canterbury plains, not far from Christchurch and Rangiora.
The airfield has 2 grass runways.
If you are familiar with warbirds and airshows, you may have noticed the large leather helmets warbird pilots are often wearing. Loburn Abbey is known worldwide in the community of pilots as being the place where Campbell Helmets are made. Ivan Campbell builts small aircraft but also old-looking, modern, carbon-kevlar reinforced helmets that are largely appreciated by aviators! And regularly his small airfield is the place of a fly-in. (http://www.campbellaeroclassics.com/index.html)
Loburn Abbey will thus become your favorite starting place for a ride in a Spitfire around Christchurch or towards the Southern Alps!
--The scene--
Strangely MSFS comes with a runway at Loburn Abbey but both its ICAO code and name are wrong. So I replaced them.
I so created the NZLA code and superseded the NZWJ airport from Asobo.
It's a full improvement of the place and for this I used default assets and some assets from various libraries. Please make sure you have them installed in your "Community" folder.
It features:
- custom hangar with Campbell Aviation workshop
- custom house, aka the "Abbey"
- custom fences
- custom hedges
- custom water tank
- improved vegetation in the area
- a fly-in atmosphere!
--What's new--
v1.1
Made compatible with World Update 12 "New Zealand" from February 2023.
--Installation--
Please remove any previous version of this scenery you may have.
Just unzip and drop the "sbworks-airport-nzla-loburnabbey" folder into your "Community" folder of MSFS.
It is strongly recommended to install those libraries:
- BeeKay-Pack1 v5.0 or later (https://flightsim.to/file/8887/beekay-pack1)

it's strange, but when in the world map I'm trying to select one spot near one of the runways, I get a message saying my airplane cannot land on a water runway, and then the runways disappear.

Very nicely modeled!
One thing, a passenger loading bus appears on the scenery for me. I don't know if the SDK gives you a way to eliminate them, it seems out of place.

Thanks!
Well, for ground services, last time I tried to eliminate them, it did so for the entire region, not only for the intended field... It's a pity since all my airstrips may be "polluted" by a fuel truck or even marshalls that have nothing to do here.
