Description
These five bridges and a few more surrounding landmarks are fixtures in Long Island sightseeing and visual avigation. They are hand-crafted from photographs and on-line data, and the carefully stepped Level of Detail design of the package is very frame-rate friendly. Night lighting blends in well with the surrounding lightscape. Thanks to Jamrom2 for introducing the author to the fine art of skinning. I still have a lot to learn, but the skin basis for the Coast Guard Cutter provided by Jamrom2 is here as elaborated by me.
In this version I have expanded the Coast Guard Station and the Fire Island Lighthouse. I added the Wantagh Parkway Bascule bridge also.
This package is a sample of a set of over 35 New York City bridges enclosed by the Outerbridge Crossing, the George Washington Bridge, the Mid-Hudson Bridge, the Throgs Neck Bridge and the Robert Moses Causeway. The full package publication awaits assured DRM protection.
This minor update may fix some of the excess foliage only a few are experiencing around the Coast Guard station and the lighthouse.

You are a hero. Thank you so much for your content :)
My wife and I are visiting NYC this week and staying near Fire Island and I'm going to give her a tour of your scenery before our trip.
Godspeed, man.

Thank you SO much for this!! As a native long islander, flying into JFK via DPK was always lacking some scenery. This has improved it so much!

Great scenery detail, I made a video, to show your great workmanship and attention, to detail, thanks https://youtu.be/sVniotDPehQ

Your video is most encouraging! Might I ask, however, what settings you use that generate all those trees that stick up through everything? You can see in my screenshots that there is no vegetation around the lighthouse area. In fact, I have a vegetation suppression polygon around the whole area. I have tried to ferret out the cause of this, but I'm stumped. They should not be doing that. I'd appreciate any help you can provide. I'll certainly fix it if it's my doing.

Hopefully you are just getting started. I love the causeway bridge pack and just downloaded Bear Mountain!

Holy F'n S!!! Finally! (as The Rock would say...) The Great South Bay gets some love! Great Job!
Looking forward to a nice Captree update with the fleet or a Montauk Lighthouse redo. Thanks again!

Much thanks to PhysicsTeacher and Jamrom2 for your bridge locations responses.

Lol! Yeah, listen to Jamrom2, not me. From the sunrise in the West to the sunset in the East, I'm your helpful pilot, doing the best I can. I hope you didn't follow my instructions.
There'll be an update soon.

Since I am not from Long Island, I have no idea where to look to find these four bridges. Can you please provide a map with these bridges marked on them so I can find them? Sure would appreciate it!
So sorry! I entered the coordinates on upload so they could put it on the map, but I think I didn't save that section. Here is the location of the main bridges:
Robert Moses Causeway
40 deg 40 min 27.10 sec N
73 deg 16 min 16.38 sec W
40.672437, -73.271778
8 NM outbound on the 180 radial from Deer Park VORTAC (DPK 117.7)
If you have a New York Sectional, find Farmingdale (KFRG) and Islip (KISP) and look slightly south of a line connecting them. There's one of those golf flags with the name and TWIN BRIDGES reporting point call. The way to find them easily is to depart from runway 24 at KISP, climb to 500 feet and turn right to 300 degrees. You can't miss them.
Thanks for catching this. I don't seem to be able to upload a map.

Depending on the airport you take off from, these bridges are on the south side of Long Island, SE from KFRG, SW from KISP and far west from Brookhaven, Bayport and the other airport futher east.
KFRG: Take off from RWY19 and head due south to the far south "outer bank" of the Great South Bay, turn due East, and follow the roadway... you should see the Single span and the Robert Moses "Pencil" Watertower in front of you, and the larger Double Span to your 11 o'clock
KISP: RNY24 and maintain runway heading for about 5 miles, then turn to heading 190 or 200... you'll see the Double span to your 12 o'clock, turn towards it and fly to the bridge.

This is excellent! Thanks for working on this! I fly IRL in this area, and this will add greatly to the realism. Would love to see Jones Beach area enhancements, as well as KFRG and KISP enhancements.

Thanlks for working on these airports! My home airport is FRG and I also frequently fly from ISP. What photos do you need? I have a lot in my collection already. Flying for 15 years here.

I can't believe no one has already done these airports. Right now I'm adding an authentic administration building to the Lighthouse and adding some realistic buildings to the Coast Guard Station for Jamrom2. The next version will have those as well as the bascule bridge on the Wantaugh Parkway. I've never (re)done an airport, though. If you're serious, I'd need a whole lot of pictures that I would want to specify. Someone who was working on KHPN for X-Plane commented that he had to talk fast to keep a TSA agent from confiscating his camera when he was gathering texture photos.
Could be fun, though.
If you're serious, I'll put together a specification for the photographs I'd need. The "lesser" airports are made up "on the fly" (pun intended) from satellite photos and a chunk of artificial intelligence. The hard part would be planning for multiple Levels of Detail to keep from bogging down even the best rig. I've developed some good tricks.
Glad you like the Causeway and surround.

I would love to see these as well since im out of frg all of the time and great job on the bridges they make New York more realistic

Also... the Coast Guard Station seems to have 2 antennas... but I'm position that's FS2024 trying to overwrite your scenery file.
Best regards!
