    Davidson Strip, Alaska (45AA) - Image 1

    Description

Emerald Object Library is required for this scenery to display as intended! Please see Dependencies!

Davidson Strip is located on the southernmost end of Amber Lake. The airstrip has been completely rebuilt from the ground up using custom 3d trees and vegetation! A number of the missing lakes and ponds surrounding Amber Lake now have a water surface defined and have been flattened to allow for float plane operations. Several docks have also been placed around Amber and a few other lakes and ponds, as well as some water overlay issues fixed in the vicinity of the airport. Tree placement has also been redone at and around the airstrip for greater accuracy.

    Features

    • 30cm/px, AI-enhanced aerial imagery covering the airstrip & color-matched to the surrounding terrain.
    • Custom Gravel and Dirt ground materials with NRM textures for PBR and added detail.
    • Custom environmentals including Weeds, Wildflowers, Native Shrubs, 3D Trees, Rocks, and Logs.

    Dynamic Features

    • Bear – Can be found roaming the marshy area to the South of the Airstrip. Will go into hibernation when temperatures fall below freezing.
    • Butterflies – Visible around flowers from May through September. Includes 4 different Alaska native variations! Will not show when Rain or Snow is reported.
    • Rain Puddles – Appear when Rain has been reported in the area.
    • VFX – Burn Barrel & Campfire VFX will appear once temperatures fall to 50℉/10℃ or below.

    Requirements

    Installation

The included "esd-airport-45aa-davidson" folder should be placed into your MSFS "Packages\Community" folder. The scenery will load the next time you start Microsoft Flight Simulator.

This is the best piece of Bush Strip I have ever seen. Thanks a lot creator!

Entire lake surrounding this strip/property is grass now, not water. I did test removing all my mods except for this strip (and the emerald object library) and still had the same problem. Disappointing, this has been my "home" in msfs for quite some time.

Hey, could you give me some more details? 2020/2024? Stable or Beta branch? I just built a new package for this debugging something else like a week ago and all was fine (even before the build). Thanks!

I went back and loaded this version of Davidson and I am not able to reproduce this issue. You might try to run the cleanup script I provide on my support page. It cleans up scenery indexes and some other files which can sometimes be problematic. Has fixed weirder issues. If that doesn't work, double check for addons (Marketplace addons as well). And if all else fails, I can PM you the latest build just to see if it makes any difference.

Script here (See link above form):

Ran the script, no luck same grass problem. I don't have any scenery addons from the marketplace, only a couple planes. Should I be looking for something specific?
    r

Planes shouldn't cause a conflict. I PM'd you a more recent internal build of Davidson. See if that makes any difference.

Outside of that, if there are no addons then I'm really not sure. Maybe Davidson got corrupted somehow on your end? Or maybe something else did? It's an odd issue.

Does everything else like the hangar, clutter and vegetation all seem to load OK?

I tried redownloading the scenery as well in case something was corrupted, no improvement.

All other objects in the scenery show up without issue.

Replying back to this comment for others since this convo was moved over to PM. If you experience a similar issue, try clearing your Rolling Cache! That was the solution in this case.

Why is the flag of the country in which the scenery was created not displayed in the title?

Great rural scenery, I made a video, to highlight your attention-to-detail and your superb craftsmanship. I just happened to be checking the Emerald Scenery Design website and downloaded directly from it. I have flown the one in Florida, I think it is called Bear Island, super great scenery, Thanks. https://youtu.be/0F4nUsAwKuo?si=pL2RT4DGhQ6mYEyJ

If you mean on the ground - it's because Emerald Object Library needs to be installed. You can find it linked under the dependencies tab above or on Marketplace. And if you already have it, check that it's not nested within another folder in your community.

    Thanks for your work.

Just a suggestion, could you maybe mention/list/link any dependencies directly after the install instructions, as they are part of the install, so people don't miss them. I realize they are in the download dialogue box and the bar above comments, but new users may not be familiar with this.

    Hi lawlegge,

Thanks for the suggestion. It should have been like that already, as that's the setup I have for my other addons. This description probably just slipped through the cracks.

    I have corrected it now!

This doesn't work! There's no folder, only a 7z file that MSFS does not recognize.

    r

7z is a compression format like .zip or .rar, which provides better compression. You need either 7-zip or WinRAR to extract it first. 7-zip is really light weight and compatible with pretty much any format you would encounter that needs to be unzipped.
