Adriatic Sea / Italy Rigs – Offshore Oil Platform Placement for Microsoft Flight Simulator ( default 3D model )
I'm freezing downloads, as a recent change to MSFS 2020 seems to have removed POI_oil-rig, which this scenery is dependant on. I'll check after SU16, which is supposed to merge world data for 2020 and 2024, and see if there will be a replacement oil rig asset.

Description
This scenery adds 75 oil platforms around Italy, mainly in the Adriatic and Ionian Sea. The wind farm at Taranto has also been added. This is an early version and will be a work in progress. The primary intent was to add rigs offshore for enhancing helicopter flying in multiplayer and to add something more to do in this scenic area of the world.
Although the placement of the rigs is accurate, the scenery is currently using the default oil rig which is not representative of the platforms in Italy. Eventually, the default rig will be replaced with more accurate models of the Adriatic rigs.
Landable helipads have been added to all the rigs.
Installation
- Extract bhd-itlrigs.zip using WinZip, 7-Zip or WinRar.
- Place the entire bhd-itlrigs folder into the Microsoft Flight Simulator Community Folder.
- Select Pescara as your start point (LIPB), Platforms are right off the coast near the airport. Use the included map and navigation info to explore the area..
- Requires USA World Update to be installed from the Marketplace ( oil rig is part of update scenery content )
Known Issues v0.1.1
Added KMZ file in documentation to add rig locations to Little Nav Map.
Oil rig 3D models are not accurate to actual Italian platforms.
Placement of rigs should be accurate, but orientation is a guess based of best info. Several rig placements have been kit-bashed due to lack of photos / information.
Might experience -2/3 FPS spikes, but in general, not much performance impact.

about the only solution is to do a custom rig model that's the same size as the old POI

2024 has rig placements already - so wasn't planning to update the packages for it ( and some of the placement data - esp for this package is out of date )

Hi Ravenn, thank u for your hard work! I only wanted you to provide the exact coordinates of all the oil rigs in the Italian and Croatian territory.
This is for accuracy and of course to avoid excessive proximity to the coast.
I hope you can fix this as soon you have time to replace them.

lavoro molto bello, sia nella fattura delle piattaforme, sia come idea.... pero a me paiono posizionate male. Io sono di Pescara, quindi quelle di zona sono abituate a vederle.... e per come mi sono apparse su litorale in FS, non c'entrano assolutamente nulla. Addirittura me ne ha messe anche in più rispetto a quelle che dovrebbero esserci (nella zona di Pescara ne ho contate 4), completamente inventate ed in luoghi di fantasia, tipo tipo a nord della foce del fiume pescara, vicino (molto vicino) alla costa.... ripeto, bella l'idea, ma ho dovuto disinstallare tutto, perché rovinava tutto il realismo. Sorry.

the lat/lon data I was sent was from 2014, and there's no google/bing sat imagery to validate any of the positions... Part of the issue is that in places, 2 or 3 platforms are connected - but with only 1 oil rig model - it looks silly. I had the same issue in SoCal w 2 connected platforms, and have to fake the look of it.
if you've got better data for positions - I'd be happy to adjust / fix placements!
