    Description

    Cooling towers and chimney stacks for Ferrybridge,Eggborough,Drax,Ratcliffe,Ironbridge,Rugeley,Fidders Ferry,Stockton,Willington,West Burton and Cottam.
    These don't disappear when at a distance that they should still be visible.

    Longannet,Peterhead,Aberthaw,Southam,Uskmouth,Fawley and Lynemouth

    NOTE: Since Sim Update 3 the draw distance has unfortunately reduced on this addon and is now approx 20 miles. Was much further previously..

     

    An alternate version is available that removes duplicates that conflict with ORBX GB Central

    Just copy the folder into the community folder and restart the sim.

    I've noticed a lot of duplicated towers when using Orbx GB Central. Any chance of creating a version that leaves out those in the orbx pack?

    Ferrybridge, Eggborough, Drax, Fiddlers Ferry, West Burton, Cottam. I think that's all of them.

    Great mod - many thanks. One issue I noticed was when this mod is used in conjunction with the iniScene Shoreham Airport mod. I now have two chimneys for Shoreham Power Station! Great to be able to use it as a landmark though!

    Flew to Rugeley from the unit where I keep my car (abbots bromley airfield) and was disappointed no power station. Then I discovered this mod! It'll be nice to have the landmark on flight sim even when the towers are gone,

    You mention the decreased draw distance with SU3. We thought the same thing had happened to tree draw distance mods. Turns out if you run the sim once without the mod installed, then reinstall/restart the sim, the draw distance comes back. I wonder if this works with this chimney mod? I will test it soon and reply to myself here.

    Is it possible you could please add the tall chimney at Fawley power station? It is a local landmark and the sim is incomplete without it.

    Later that day; Just seen the Update and that you've added Fawley chimney.
    Brilliant stuff. So grateful. Thank you. We use it at Solent Airport (EGHF) for reference when to turn Crosswind (right-hand Pattern) and to judge height AGL. We shall miss it when it goes - scheduled for demolition later this year or early 2022. Lovely to have it for now.

    Hi, The Ironbridge cooling towers have now been blown up. Is there any way to adjust and reflect on this without losing the other towers?

    Yes, that's something I'm looking at.

    Plan for next version is to create an individual package for each site so that they can simply be removed if any get demolished in the future or keep them for any nostalgia trips.
    A replacement package would also be included for each to prevent the auto-gen stuff from reappearing and apply a ground texture to cover the bing maps texture.

    Going to wait for the UK World Update to see what happens in these areas before doing any of this.

    Hi, I love this mod. Could I be cheeky and ask if there is any chance you could add West Burton and Cottam in North Notts? I do real world VFR flying from Gamston (EGNE) and these are really missed in my virtual VFR flights.
