Description
Welcome to Rusty Barge Airstrip! (This is a real place)
This privately owned airstrip is approx. located 40nm north of Juneau in the Lynn Canal and 20nm south of Haines.
It's tugged away in a bay sheltered by Sullivan Island. The airstrip is rudementarily maintained and serves some cabins and small scale logging operation.
The airstrip got its name from the once beached and now rusting barge in the adjacent bay.
There isn't much here, but use it as a beatiful stop over point between Juneau and Haines/Skagway.
Pitch your tent on the airstrip ground. Some hikers have done so already and the campfire has been lit.
The runway is a north-south oriented, turf-gravel runway with an usable length of approx. 1300 feet.
Rising terrain to the west and a tricky final to the south can pose a challenge.
MSFS did not include this airstrip, there was no usable satellite image either, so I created the entire airstrip from scratch.
This scenery has been developed as a testing bed for my newly released Bush and Backcountry Libary.
You will need it for this airstrip scenery: https://flightsim.to/file/43061/bush-backcountry-library
I have tried to optimize this airstrip a good amount, but even though it's a nature scenery, it's definitely not too easy on performance.
If you experience problems, please let me know.
A 45nm flight to the north will bring you to Nugget Creek Cabin, another scenery I recently published. Check it out:

Hey,
your work seem pretty awesome but, sadly, don't know if it's because of recent update but, some 3D elements are missing ; the wreck, all cabins, some vegetation, no 3D visible 😞 But for exemple, the truck is
I really hope you could find some times to repair that ! Thanks anyway, bye

Nugget Creek Cabin, 4AA3, Alaska, USA
The privately owned cabin is located right at the bank of the Tsirku River roughly 30 miles west of Haines deep in the mountains. It's the last landing site before the Tsirku Glacier head further up the valley. If you want to get away from the crowds, enjoying untouched wilderness for miles and are into hunting and fishing this is the right spot for you - provided that you can handle its airstrip which is only roughly 545 feet long and not much wider than the wingspan of a Kitfox or Piper Cub.

Glacier Point Airstrip, 4AA5, Alaska, USA
Glacier Point is located approx. 22nm south of Skagway and 56nm north of Juneau. The closest settlement/town is Haines, which is located 8nm to the north across the Chilkat Inlet. Despite its remoteness, it's one of the most popular sightseeing sites in the Haines/Skagway area, due its easy access to the Davidson Glacier which terminates only 2nm to the west.

Takhin River Airstrip, 4AA4, Alaska, USA
This airstrip is an old half abandoned and partially overgrown airstrip on the right bank of the Takhin River in the Takhinsha Mountains. Half way between Haines and the Tsirku Glacier, it presumably once served as entry and drop off point for hunters, researchers and others who needed to access the wilderness. It has seen some recent interest and activity by some local bush pilots and hunters and has been cleared of the worst, however, this is a non-maintained and rarely used airstrip, so be cautious.

It's located approx. 85nm south of McGrath, 135nm northeast of Bethel and 224nm west of Anchorage. Georgetown is actually split in two by the Kuskokwim River, with parts of the settlement on both sides.
