Endicott River Airstrip, 4AA6, Alaska, USA - Image 1

    Description

    Welcome To Endicott River Airstrip!

This airstrip is an old, abandoned and partially overgrown airstrip right at the western shore of the Lynn Canal halfway between Juneau and Haines. Assumingly, it was once used as access point to the Endicott River and the surrounding area and has since then fallen into oblivion. Minimal to no traffic over the years has given nature the chance to slowly take it back. Luckily, some local bush pilots decided to rudimentarily restore the place on their own in order to make it somewhat usable again. However, this does not mean that this airstrip is maintained in any way. Nature is still encroaching the airstrip and obstacles may be around - so be cautious.

The airstrip has a narrow 1000' grass/gravel runway to get you down and out of there again. Suited only for small high performance aircraft and skilled bush pilots.

    NOTAM:
Narrow runway. Partially overgrown. Obstacles close to runway. Entire airstrip area extremely tight for maneuvering. No lights and windsock available

    Dear Sir,

you are right: Feedback is important for you. I like small bush strips and so I try to land with my Wilga X on your Bush strip. It is wonderful to explore Alaska.

So I say thank you very much for this special abdonned strip. Great work Sir. Do it again :)

Yet another beautiful remote location. Your strip fits right in. The Monster Cub handles this one nicely. I flew out to buzz that cruise ship, but it had sailed on.

Thanks for the review! Yes, the monster cub is the perfect aircraft for such locations. The cruise ship sailed past the scenery, when I took the screenshots so I included it, but it's probably part of the Global Ship Traffic addon or a local addon that includes some animated ships.

Nugget Creek Cabin, 4AA3, Alaska, USA

The privately owned cabin is located right at the bank of the Tsirku River roughly 30 miles west of Haines deep in the mountains. It's the last landing site before the Tsirku Glacier head further up the valley. If you want to get away from the crowds, enjoying untouched wilderness for miles and are into hunting and fishing this is the right spot for you - provided that you can handle its airstrip which is only roughly 545 feet long and not much wider than the wingspan of a Kitfox or Piper Cub.

Glacier Point Airstrip, 4AA5, Alaska, USA

Glacier Point is located approx. 22nm south of Skagway and 56nm north of Juneau.  The closest settlement/town is Haines, which is located 8nm to the north across the Chilkat Inlet. Despite its remoteness, it's one of the most popular sightseeing sites in the Haines/Skagway area,  due its easy access to the Davidson Glacier which terminates only 2nm to the west.

Takhin River Airstrip, 4AA4, Alaska, USA

Takhin River Airstrip, 4AA4, Alaska, USA

This airstrip is an old half abandoned and partially overgrown airstrip on the right bank of the Takhin River in the Takhinsha Mountains. Half way between Haines and the Tsirku Glacier, it presumably once served as entry and drop off point for hunters, researchers and others who needed to access the wilderness. It has seen some recent interest and activity by some local bush pilots and hunters and has been cleared of the worst, however, this is a non-maintained and rarely used airstrip, so be cautious.
