Asobo King Air 350 Realism Mod - Image 1

    Description

This is a modification to the MSFS 2020 default Beechcraft King Air 350i aircraft and is primarily aimed at improving the aircraft flight model to make its overall performance more closely match the actual aircraft, providing a much closer experience to flying the real aircraft.  Multiple changes have been made to the flight model and engine parameters, which are detailed in the Change Log file included in the download under the Documentation folder.  This mod does not add any new features or functionality to the original default aircraft.

This mod is easily installed by simply unzipping the download file and copying the mge-asobo-aircraft-kingair350 folder to the MSFS Community folder.  It will then replace the existing default Beechcraft King Air 350i aircraft in the MSFS aircraft selection screen, and will also continue to utilize all of the existing available Liveries.  To uninstall the mod and return to using the MSFS default aircraft, simply remove it from the Community folder.

TIP OF THE DAY: Before takeoff set the trim to 1 unit UP on the Trim Wheel. Press [F11] to toggle LANDING view to move forward enough to see the trim wheel setting mark. Also, set the CONDITION Levers to HIGH IDLE, and set the CABIN PRESSURIZATION RATE knob to Max (full clockwise).

Can confirm works well with the Collins Avionics mod :D One thing though, from memory before this mod the MFD in the middle would be on without turning avionics on... For obvious reasons you need this screen for start up then turn avionics on where as now having to turn avionics on before start. Any remedy for that?

When the Battery is first turned on, the basic engine parameters required for engine startup are temporarily displayed on the Pilot PFD. This is the actual aircraft behavior and allows the Avionics switch to remain OFF until after the engines are running, as required in the CHECKLIST steps. This is done to minimize the battery load and provide maximum battery power to operate the Starter/Generator motors. Also, the Left Engine should not be started until after the Right one is fully running and the Right Generator has been switched ON. After startup, the Condition Levers should remain in HIGH IDLE to maximize the Generator output until you are ready to taxi. Set the Condition Levers to LOW IDLE before taxi to provide easier speed control without requiring constant braking.

Please provide a link to the Collins Avionics mod that you confirmed as compatible...

TIP OF THE DAY: The in-game CHECKLIST is a great tool for learning how to start this complex aircraft from Cold and Dark at the ramp, but it doesn't include any of the Normal Operating Procedures beyond startup. So, I recommend downloading this excellent much more complete checklist for in-flight use...

TIP OF THE DAY: Always set the Condition Levers to LOW IDLE before Taxi, and set them to HIGH IDLE before Takeoff. Press [F11] to toggle the LANDING view to improve forward visibility during Taxi and Final Approach.

Have issues with cabin being outclimbed... Cannot adjust cabin rate of climb... Any fixes?

The max cabin pressurization rate of climb spec for this aircraft is 2,000 fpm, while the aircraft max rate of climb can exceed 3,000 fpm. So, to avoid out-climbing the cabin pressurization system you must limit your climb rate to 2,000 fpm or less.

A detailed description of the aircraft cabin pressurization system can be found on page 12-14 of the King Air 300/350 Pilot Training Manual in the DOCUMENTAITON folder.

I'm not really sure what went wrong, because it sure doesn't sound like everyone was having the same problems as me, but removing the mod fixed the problems I was having. No hate to this mod at all but unfortunately it was just not working for me.
Some of the problems I was having were:
-The speed increase from a full stop for taxiing was very fast
-Immediately after touchdown engine power would shoot way up and only go down after reverse was selected and then disengaged, and the decel rate seemed way way to high
    -Rudder a bit touchier maybe?
-Other minor engine differences it seems
But yeah, I'm not too sure what went wrong on my end, maybe some stuff got outdated.

Looking forward to trying this out and learning the king air! Is there any good SimBrief profiles for the King Air as well?

I am trying your realism mod out for the first time and I can't seem to get the Blackhawk engines to load. I have replaced the file in both the Community and Official portions of the B350 yet I am still only seeing 4 blades. Does the mod keep the 4 blades, but operate as if it were the Blackhawk setup??

The optional engines.cfg file replaces the standard engines and 4-blade props with the Blackhawk engines, including the 5-blade props. But this change only affects the flight model, not the 3-D visual model which will still show the 4 bladed props.

TIP OF THE DAY: If you are using the Honeycomb BRAVO Throttle Quadrant, use the DEFAULT profile when flying this aircraft. It is configured to identically match this aircraft's control axis layout and switch assignments. The General Aviation lever handles should then be installed in the following order, from left to right:
Throttle 1 (with Go Around button), Throttle 2, Prop 1, Prop 2, Mixture 1, Mixture 2

The default assignments for the Toggle Switches are as follows, from left to right:
Beacon, Landing, Taxi, Nav, Strobe, Pitot Heat, Avionics Master
