Asobo JMB VL-3 Realism Mod - Image 1

    Description

This is a modification to the MSFS 2020 default  Asobo JMB Aircraft VL-3  aircraft.  This mod is primarily aimed at improving the flight model of this aircraft, providing a more realistic flying experience that is much closer to the actual aircraft.  Multiple changes have been made to the engine and flight model parameters, as well as the aircraft weight and balance, which are all detailed in the Change Log file included under the Documentation folder.

The JMB Aircraft VL-3 Evolution is an economical high-performance two seat Light Sport aircraft that is designed to achieve maximum performance from only a small 100 HP Rotax 912 engine.  It's extremely efficient aerodynamic low-wing design, constant speed prop and retractable landing gear allow it to achieve a cruising speed of up to 150 knots, with a service ceiling of over 12,000 ft.  It is very stable and easy to fly, and has a large unobstructed wrap-around canopy that provides excellent visibility for site seeing.

This mod is easily installed by simply unzipping the download file and copying the mge-asobo-aircraft-vl3 folder to the MSFS Community folder.  It will then replace the existing default Asobo JMB Aircraft VL-3 aircraft in the MSFS aircraft selection screen, and it will continue to utilize all previous aircraft Liveries.  To uninstall the mod and return to using the MSFS default aircraft, simply remove it from the Community folder.

Is it only me, or is this aircraft hard to control with rudder input on ground under take off and landings. Any tips on good rudder sensitivity settings?

Using the realism mod with this nice little airplane. Found the fix after the update and glad it works again. But i found the Gps direction 180 degrees off? It sends me the other way on the screen. Does this fix cause this?

A heads up that the SU15 beta (specifically the new G3X touch) doesn't play well with this mod, since having the mod installed seems to cause the G3X to not function/display properly.

I'm not exactly sure why it doesn't work (the mod doesn't do anything with the panel or interior.xml files), so hopefully you're able to figure out what the conflict is at some point.

Hi MGouge. I saw that in the documentation there is the POH of a different model of VL3 than the one present in MSFS. If it helps you here, some time ago, I found the POH of the VL-3 E-1 which, I think,it should be the correct one: https://docplayer.net/223102705-Pilot-operating-handbook-for-aeroplane-vl-3e-1.html

Excellent... Thank you so much! I was unable to find the correct POH, so I used the only one I could find. I will include this new POH in the next version of the mod. Meanwhile, anyone who wants it can access it online from your link.

Thanks for your many great mods, and this one makes the VL-3 much better to fly than it was "out of the box".

I did notice that some of the power settings listed on the panel placard (specifically the 65 and 55% power ones) aren't quite possible, since the RPM won't go below about 4870. I'm not sure if that's something that's fixable, or if you're running into an inherent MSFS limitation, but it's a relatively minor detail anyway.

Thanks for this great feedback... Yes, this issue can be fixed. I'll make the required changes and upload a new version of the mod.

The required changes have now been made and a new version has been uploaded. The Prop Lever range is now 4300 - 5800 RPM as shown on the placard.

    Hello
I've been a fan of your great work for about 4 weeks, thank you for that.
    But I miss the Beech G 36?

Thanks... I haven't done the G36 because there is already a popular improvement mod available for it that seems to be very highly rated. Have you tried that one?... A new G36 Realism Mod is now available here:

TIP OF THE DAY: To help slow this aircraft down, it has very large flaps that span about 75% of the wing, with a high full DOWN deflection angle of 55 degrees. Full DOWN flaps are only needed for maximum rate descents, or for short field landings. Normal landings should be performed using 38 degrees of flaps. The POH recommended normal descent / approach speed with flaps UP is 75 knots, flaps 15 is 60 knots, flaps 38 is 55 knots, and with full DOWN flaps it is 50 knots.

TIP OF THE DAY: To remove the Copilot, simply open the MSFS Weight and Balance screen and set the Copilot weight to 0. This will also visually remove the copilot from the external view. But, in a small aircraft like this that has no aileron trim it is also important to maintain lateral CG balance, in addition to ensuring the Forward and Aft CG limits are not exceeded. So, when you fly this aircraft solo always put 6 extra gallons of fuel in the right fuel tank to compensate for the missing copilot weight. The fuel selector only allows fuel to be burned from one tank at a time and it will eventually become laterally imbalanced in flight and start to slowly roll toward the heaviest wing. When this occurs, simply switch tanks until it is balanced again.
