    INTRO

Hi! My name is Nick, a Houston-based flight sim enthusiast and photographer. Since I moved over from P3D in 2023, I've always noticed the colors and lighting inherent to MSFS have left a lot to be desired. After years of tinkering with ReShade, Atmos, NVIDIA filters, and other visual modifications, I present my "True-to-Life ReShade" and Atmos profiles. This profile primarily corrects for the overly orange lighting inherent to MSFS 2020 and the overly blue atmosphere in MSFS 2024. I've also added some sharpening FX to reduce the softness of MSFS's look, but I've even lowered their levels to minimize graininess and maintain cockpit readability. Keep

    REQUIREMENTS

    1. RESHADE FX

To use this preset, you need the following ReShade fx. I believe qUINT fx are included in the base install of ReShade, but you'll have to download PD80 and AdaptiveSharpen fx yourself. Please find a YouTube video to help you install--don't comment asking for help with ReShade.

    1. qUINT's lightroom.fx
    2. qUINT's bloom.fx
    3. [v7 & onward] PD80_03_Color_Space_Curves.fx
    4. [v7 & onward] PD80_04_ColorBalance.fx
    5. [v7 & onward] AdaptiveSharpen.fx - https://github.com/byxor/thug-pro-reshade/blob/master/THUG%20Pro/reshade-shaders/Shaders/AdaptiveSharpen.fx
    6. [OBSOLETE - v6.1 & before] LUMAsharpen.fx

    2. REX ATMOS CORE

The MSFS2024 version of the ReShade preset requires REX Atmos to reach its full potential. These profiles can be found by searching "nszhang1" in the weather, atmos, and enviro categories in REX Atmos CORE.

USE THE ATMOS PRESET VERSION THAT CORRESPONDS TO THE RESHADE PRESET VERSION YOU HAVE ACTIVE.

For example, as of right now, the most up-to-date ReShade version is 7.0. In REX Atmos, please use version 7.0 of my weather, atmosphere, and environment presets.

Despite all this, I believe the ReShade profile alone still improves the simulator's default appearance, so REX Atmos is not strictly required. segue-50.

    3. MISCELLANEOUS

My EV is set to 0.

A monitor capable of 10-bit RGB is recommended.

When you created the preset, did you make it a little darker than a typical daytime scene?

It feels dark even when the sun is shining brightly during the day.

if you don't like the brightness, you can easily change it by increasing exposure/highlights/whites in the reshade settings. if you dont know how to do that, go to msfs settings and increase the EV to whatever you want

Hey I know you said you wont help with reshade, but do you happen to have the link to the AdaptiveSharpen you use?

Sir, I have question: Are you not use default Adaptive from Reshade installer? And other question: qUINT's not comming in reshade installer. Can you confirm that you dowloaded from there? https://github.com/martymcmodding/qUINT

Hi! Your ReShade preset looks amazing! I really like how it looks, but the graphics in my simulator don’t look quite the same as in your screenshots/videos. Could you please share your in-game graphics settings? I would really appreciate it!

hey--thanks for the compliment! differences in sim settings shouldn't make the preset look any different, besides things like EV adjustments or maybe cloud textures. could you be more specific as to what looks different, so i can see how to help?

Hey! I think I explained it badly before. I don't mean that your ReShade preset looks different because of the sim settings. I mean that my **overall game graphics are noticeably worse than yours** — the ground, mountains, distant scenery and overall sharpness look much more blurry/low quality. The ReShade itself looks great, but my base game graphics don't look like yours. My PC should be able to handle better graphics, so I'm trying to figure out what could be causing this.

ah gotcha. i use a mix of high/ultra settings, with the ones you're probably looking for sitting at high (trees, buildings, vegetation). for TLOD/OLOD, i use autofps to keep me at approximately 80 to 100 when I'm on the ground, scaling to 400 once I hit 4000 AGL. I'm running 9850X3D normal clock, 5070Ti 16gb, 32gb DDR5 @ 6000. hope this helps brother

    does reshade takes fps?

you should google that. i dont have evidence for this answer, but i think it's dependent on your GPU. if you have an older generation card, it might take a higher proportion of processing power for things like the sharpening and bloom. however, if you have a newer card, it's more efficient in processing those effects and thus takes a smaller performance hit. again, not sure cause im not a computer scientist and too lazy to google it.

    Historique des versions

[MAJOR UPDATE] -addition of PD80 fx to individually color grade shadows, midtones, and highlights. previous versions had shadows that were too blue and highlights that were too orange -addition of adaptivesharpen fx to dampen cockpit sharpening for readability, while maintaining adequate exterior sharpening -many generalized color and exposure changes *v6.1 available as a separate download if you prefer it, though I believe 7.0 is a huge improvement
