Asobo A320 Neo Realism Mod - Image 1

    Description

This is a modification to the MSFS 2020 default Asobo A320 Neo aircraft and is primarily aimed at improving the aircraft flight model to make its overall performance more closely match the actual aircraft, providing a much closer experience to flying the real aircraft.

While this default aircraft has now been largely replaced by the new much more realistic Microsoft A320 Neo V2 included with SU15, it still offers a simpler less complex version of the A320 for newer pilots who are not yet familiar with entering a complex detailed flight plan in SimBrief and fully programing the MCDU.  You can just start the flight with no Flight Plan at all, or create a simple GPS or IFR flight plan using the World Map and then start the flight.  After mastering flying this version of the A320neo, you can then graduate up to the more realistic Inibuilds A320neo V2, or the excellent FlyByWire A32Nx.

This mod is easily installed by simply unzipping the download file and copying the mge-asobo-aircraft-a320-neo folder to the MSFS Community folder.  It will then replace the existing default Asobo A320 Neo aircraft in the MSFS aircraft selection screen, and will also continue to utilize all of the existing available Liveries.  To uninstall the mod and return to using the MSFS default aircraft, simply remove it from the Community folder.

Make sure you are installing the correct folder described above. Also, temporarily remove any other mods for this aircraft from COMMUNITY to determine there is a mod conflict.

I have no problems now after another update with the same files modified after two weeks.
It must have been a bug by Asobo.

Since an update on 5th october 2025 in these very files (fs-base-generic airports, fs-base-ai-traffic, fs-base-nav) I can no longer see an AI pilot landing in perfect or nearly perfect conditions as before.
Instead the A320 and other aircraft make a go-around because they either go well above the glide path and because of that when near the end of the runway a go-around is executed.
On other ocassions the glide path is performed accurately but at minimums or also DH the go-around is also executed and at the second atempt just happens the same.

Temporarily remove this mod from COMMUNITY to see if the problem also occurs with the default aircraft... If so, then it is a bug that must be fixed by Asobo.

TIP OF THE DAY: If you are following a SID that includes speed restrictions or tight turns, you can delay raising the FLAPS from 1 + F to 0 until after you have completed the SID. The aircraft will maintain "S" Speed until after you select FLAPS 0.

TIP OF THE DAY: Only the Cruise Altitude entered on the World Map NAV LOG will be used by ATC to issue climb clearances for an IFR flight plan. The CRZ FL entered on the INIT page of FMC/MCDU is only used to determine when the PERF page PHASE will switch from CLB to CRZ. So, if you did not enter the correct Cruise Altitude on the World Map, you must open ATC and REQUEST CRUISE ALTITUDE INCREASE during the flight to receive clearance to climb to your CRZ FL.

TIP OF THE DAY: This is now the only A320neo in MSFS 2020 that allows you to create and enter a full Flight Plan from the MSFS World Map, or directly into the FMC/MCDU. The interactive Checklists used on this aircraft are also much less complicated and easier to complete, so you can spend less time configuring the aircraft for takeoff and more time in the air.

All of the other A320's available for MSFS require the use of SimBrief.com for creating and downloading Flight Plans into the FMC/MCDU. While this works well, it is much more complex and time consuming than using World Map and requires a steep learning curve. It also requires a paid Navigraph subscription for current charts and routes that will match the current MSFS 2020 FMC database. SimBrief produces a highly detailed Operational Flight Plan (OFP) that can be very challenging to interpret and use. This level of detail and complexity is not required for flying this version of the A320neo.

A much better and easier alternative for creating realistic VFR/IFR flight plans within the U.S. airspace is SkyVector.com, which I highly recommend. This is also an excellent source for accessing current real-world FAA VFR/IFR charts, Approach charts, SID / STAR charts, and current airport METAR and weather information. Flight plan routes can be easily created by just clicking and dragging on the interactive world map charts, or automatically generated from actual real-world flight plan routes.

Here is an excellent short video tutorial introduction to using SkyVector.com...

TIP OF THE DAY: Many of the FMC pages on this simplified version of the A320neo are either incomplete or INOP. The AIRWAYS page is one of the INOP pages... so, you must enter each airway waypoint separately. To insert a new waypoint, open the F-PLN page and type the new waypoint into the scratchpad. Then, select an existing waypoint to INSERT it immediately after that waypoint.

TIP OF THE DAY: In the Airbus A320, thrust reduction at the THR REDUCTION height in the FMC/MCDU does not happen automatically, unlike in a Boeing aircraft. The Pilot is simply prompted to manually move the Power lever to the CL detent, which will then engage A/THR and CLB thrust. You don't have to do this immediately, and it is usually better to wait a few seconds for the autopilot to lower the nose and begin accelerating first, which is usually configured to happen at the same height.

TIP OF THE DAY: Taxiing with one engine at IDLE is a common practice in this aircraft and provides much better speed control. The asymmetric thrust is not noticeable at taxi speeds. Use engine 2 during taxi to rebalance the fuel tank levels after running the APU, since only tank 1 supplies fuel to the APU.

TIP OF THE DAY: The TOD symbol on the ND is currently INOP on this aircraft, but the PERF page will automatically change from CRZ to DES at TOD and the target speed will be reduced. When this occurs, or when ATC clears you to descend, you must manually initiate the descent by setting a lower altitude and either pulling or pushing the ALT knob. If you use Managed DES mode for the descent, be aware that some of the waypoint altitude constraints might not be correct.

TIP OF THE DAY: The COST INDEX is not fully operational on this aircraft, so to change your target Climb, Cruise or Descent speeds you must use Selected SPD mode and manually set them during the flight. After raising the FLAPS to 0, engage Selected SDP mode and set the target climb speed to 250 or less until you have completed the SID and are above 10,000 ft. Above 10,000 ft. increase the target climb speed to 285/Mach 0.78 until you reach Cruise altitude. At Cruise altitude reengage Managed SPD mode.

TIP OF THE DAY: To easily tell where the Power Levers are set without looking down at them just look at the EICAS display. The current Power Lever detent position (TOGA / FLEX/MCT / CLB / AUTO / IDLE) is shown in the upper right corner, and the "Donut" shows the actual Throttle Lever position. When the Donut is lined up with the green Thrust line you can safely disengage the A/THR mode with no change in the thrust setting.

TIP OF THE DAY: When you change the takeoff weight by adjusting the FUEL or PAYLOAD, or set the FLAPS for takeoff, the V-speeds (V1 / Vr / V2) are automatically recalculated by the FMC, but the V-speeds shown on the FMC/PERF page and PFD speed tape will not be updated until you press the FMC softkey next to each V-speed.

TIP OF THE DAY: When starting a flight at the RAMP or on the RUNWAY, always enter both the FROM and TO airports on the World Map. Then open WEIGHT AND BALANCE and adjust the FUEL slider until the Destination airport is just inside the Max Range circle. This will allow you to quickly determine the minimum trip fuel required for the flight. Then, add about +10% more FUEL to ensure that you will arrive below MLW. MLW for this aircraft is 67,400 Kg. (148,590 lbs.) and the default ZFW is now 61,590 Kg. (135,784 lbs.) which makes it very easy to exceed MLW if you load too much fuel, especially on Short-Haul flights.

Entering these settings on the World Map before starting the flight will also preconfigure the INIT, PERF and F-PLN pages of the MCDU, including the FMC calculated V-Speeds, which will make it much easier to complete the Flight Plan entry and final FMC configuration.
