Norway Church Fix - Image 1

    Description

This addons removes all the default big red churches i Norway. There are very few churches of that kind in Norway, therefore I have removed them.

IMPORTANT! To get full use of this addon, you should download the ENAL-addon as well, because I use a church from that addon to replace some of the the removed default churches. Link to ENAL-addon here: https://flightsim.to/file/48854/enal-aalesund-vigra

(I have the neccessary permissions from the developer)

I have not removed small churches. This addon will probably work in MSFS2020 as well, but I have not tested. This addon has no impact on performance.

If you should discover any leftover "cathedrals", please give me a heads up in the comments, and I will remove them in the next update.

Download the file, extract it, and plave the folder in your community folder. (Remember the ENAL-addon as well)

    All permissions given.

    Hi Erik.
Maybe it did work. I probably identified a church removed. Did a flight over area hour ago. My report:
it is so much much more.
    - Most important is the immersion killer east of rwy 18 - 500 m east of mil admin - 2 huge cathedrals in Sola . Clearly visible from the airport.
    - At least 15 , probably 20 cathedrals to be removed in Stavanger. Keep Domkirken and Johannes kirke in sentrum.
    - Jåttå - south Hillevåg. remove 1
    - Further south, Sandnes, remove at least 5 catherdals in sentrum. Keep one.
    - Remove 1 west of Sandnes - Hana area.
    - Gandal, south part of Sandnes, remove 2.
    - Further south - Frøylandsvatnet - remove 2.
    - Moving west again 3 km south rwy 36. Ræge (should be small white church) , Tjelta , remove 2.
    - West rwy 9. Sola strand . north end , remove 2.
    - What is funny - after carpet bombing with churches, they did not hit a correct location. Sola church is 1 km north west of airport hotel. -Should be one 5 km south west of Tjelta, near border to Sandnes
    .
While at the stick, I moved to Torp - ENTO, and did a flight over my old city Larvik.
    - In Larvik there is only one main church at Tollerodden. south east near Larvikfjorden.
    - Remove the cluster of 8 churches in sentrum , up from harbor.
    - Remove 1 further west , closer to Farris.
    .
Thank you Erik. Hope it does work for me too, if you find time to fix my list. - If does not work for me it certainly will help other users.- Honestly I gave up parts of Norway several years ago when this bug was introduced.
I asked for roll back to previous update, but no response. It should be not difficult to find old .bgl files.
    .

Sorry, I don’t quite understand. Do you see all these «big red cathedrals» with my addon activated in msfs2024? And about the the churches south of ENZV, they ate fixed in the latest update of my addon. 👍

    Thanks - ms2020 for me.

    Folder looks like this:
    haneyscenery-churchwestrennorway\contentinfo scenery\churcheswesternnorway/erik10.

    Is this correct?
    .
Maybe I am asking for too much removing 25 cathedrals in this area.
But the real immersion killers are the 2 large cathedrals straight east of tower across rwy 36. Clearly visible when parked or taxi..... Also cathedral in south horizon would be nice to get rid off.
    .
Did a flight to ENCN Kjevik today. Kristiansand is also ruined by 6 large cathedrals.
Unfortunately - once seen it is impossible to unsee it.
Most of Norway is ruined for me, thanks to stupid bug introduced in a update 2 years ago....
    Anyway....
Erik - thanks for cleaning up the asobo mess...!!!!

Thanks. -- but sorry no cigar in ms2020. ENZV - Stavanger
Still a couple of cathedrals near rwy 18 ENZV. , and one further south My real life aviation career airport in for 35 years. - Immersion was ruined a couple of years ago when this bug was introduced in an update. Reported several times.
Been avoiding ENZV since then - and now ORBX have ENZV. - sigh.....
    .
Unzipped both folders and there is a folder inside the folder with identical name. Copied and pasted in Community ... Right?

    suggestions much appreciated.

    thanks

Great addon, but I wonder if one of the few churches in Norway that actually match the awful default church generation has been removed?

That might very well be. It was so many churches to fix that I didnt check every ine properly. I can let the default church in Arendal be shown in the default, Thanx a lot for letting me know. I will publish an update.

Great work! It makes a lot for the VFR experience. For Rygge, the church has been placed where the chappel is, and on the other side of the road where the church is actually located.

Can you provide a picture to show me how it is in real life? Ansd also the location? With Rygge, do you mean close to the airport?

Unforunately not. A lot of churches will be missing. But you will NOT see any big red churches anyway, and that is really the purpose of this addon.

    Norway Church Fix

This add-on modifies the landscape of Norway by removing large red churches, which are not representative of the countrys architectural landscape. Small churches remain untouched, and the add-on is reported to have no performance impact. Users are encouraged to report any remaining cathedrals for future updates.
