    8Q0 - Travis AFB Aero Club - Image 1

    Description

    8Q0 Travis AFB Aero Club

Operations at this location started in 1958 and ceased back in 2006 due to housing, this was the only Air Force Aero Club in the CONUS that had its own private airstrip on an Air Force installation. Currently the Travis AFB Aero Club operates at Rio Vista Municipal O88.

I learned how to fly out of this airport back in the early 2000’s and was the club manager for 8 years before joining the Air Force to fly bigger and better things. This airfield was rebuilt referencing old photos and from memory. The airport has elements from the 80’s, 90’s, and 00’s, for example the taxiway is not crushed from the runway widening project, the grass crosswind runway is still open, the name and frequency of the airfield is painted on the runway, and the old Marston Mat is not overgrown.

This is airport was built from many elements from FS 2024 up to the Aviator Upgrade. Below is a listing of other elements that require download. Please submit any feedback or if you have any issues.

Highly recommend downloading KSUU Travis AFB to complete the entire base. Link is below in the dependencies.

*ATTENTION* - If you installed or streaming KSUU Travis Air Force Base by V Pilot Designs (available for purchase in Marketplace), there is an additional download that is required to use along with this scenery. That download will correct any elevation issues with scenery elements on and surrounding Travis AFB.

To have all the airports in Solano County enhanced, recommend downloading all my previous scenery builds (O88 - Rio Vista Municipal Airport, KVCB - Nut Tree Airport, KSUU - Travis AFB, Private Airports of Solano County) at https://flightsim.to/profile/flybylatham/collections

Well done, clearly a passion project. Gotta take another trip to classroom... What kind of collision do you use? Avatar mode works fine, but chaseplane's drone camera gets stuck on outer walls.

Thanks! Blender has two options for collision. I didn't use the road collision.

Many thx. Nice work. Best Regards from Warstein in Germany.

Btw: Can you please limit your usage of Libary objects to only (..) libarys available at flightsim.to as independent(!) Libary, but not e.g. from Objects sub-referenced to other Airports or sceneries of someone else. Its hard to organize many independent airports/scenerys. Most users surely want to use schenerys with clear defined set of linked "official" libaries, but w/o any further dependence to any "other" scenery / airport. Nobody is able (or willing..) to install hundreads of avalilable airports at the same time from their included internal dependence to other airports. Adittionally normally this is also a license conflict (Free sub-usage within own airports is typically only granted from published "free usage" libarys)..

    Appreciate the feedback.

This was my first project and I'm still a novice when it comes to designing assets. I try to stick to the libraries as best I can and avoid using other folks airports. At this point this airport is done, if I do any updates its to correct anything that may get affected by any updates pushed by Asobo. My other projects have less dependencies.

I reduced some of the dependencies on this airport.

8Q0 - Travis AFB Aero Club

The 8Q0 Travis AFB Aero Club add-on recreates the former Air Force Aero Clubs airfield, which operated from 1958 to 2006. Based on historical photographs and personal recollections, it features design elements from the 1980s to 2000s, including a preserved grass crosswind runway and authentic runway markings. This airport scenery is developed for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 using the FS2024 SDK, and may require several additional libraries for optimal use.
