Description
✈️ Checklist Reader
Your Voice-Controlled Copilot for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
👉 Imagine having a virtual copilot beside you throughout the entire flight.
Say “After takeoff checklist” and work through the procedure together:
- “Landing gear?” — Up.
- “Flaps?” — Retracted.
Checklist Reader listens to your responses, tracks every completed item and always knows exactly where you are — both in the flight and in the active checklist.
Pause a checklist at any time, resume exactly where you stopped, ask what comes next or request a complete status report. Checklists can be performed interactively in call-and-response mode or read aloud automatically.
🛫 Live Simulator Awareness
Checklist Reader connects directly to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 through the native SimConnect API.
During the flight, your copilot monitors live aircraft and simulator data, including:
- Aircraft configuration
- Engine and electrical parameters
- Fuel and temperatures
- Flight phase and aircraft state
- Route, altitude and waypoint progress
- SimBrief flight plans and imported PLN routes
- Potential hazards and configuration problems
“Possible icing conditions detected. Consider enabling pitot heat.”
You can ask questions at any time:
“What is our altitude?”
“How much fuel do we have?”
“What is our current airspeed?”
“When will we reach the next waypoint?”
Supported simulator functions can also be controlled by voice, allowing commands such as:
“Gear up.”
“Landing lights on.”
“Flaps one.”
🗺️ Flight Planning, Monitoring and Recording
Load your current SimBrief flight plan or import an MSFS PLN route. Checklist Reader follows your progress, announces upcoming waypoints and can warn about route, altitude or configuration deviations.
The integrated moving map displays your planned route, current position, airports, navigation data, points of interest and recorded track.
Your complete flight path can be recorded and later reviewed or exported for use with applications such as Google Maps and Google Earth, including a 3D replay of your flight.
🌍 Guided Tours
Turn a free flight or planned route into a spoken sightseeing experience.
Checklist Reader can detect nearby landmarks, tell you where to look and narrate their history while displaying points of interest on the moving map.
Ready-made tours are included, and you can create your own tours for any region or route.
🎛️ Stream Deck, Webhooks and Cockpit Integration
Checklist Reader includes an open, optional HTTP and JSON integration interface for external tools and cockpit hardware.
It provides:
- Live checklist status and event updates
- Outbound webhooks
- Inbound checklist commands
- Event polling and live event streams
- Local-network access for tablets and second PCs
- Token-based access protection
- An interactive integration learning and testing package
The included first-party Elgato Stream Deck plugin can display the current checklist, section or item directly on a Stream Deck button and send commands such as Check, Skip, Repeat, Pause, Resume or Next Section.
No additional bridge software is required for the Stream Deck plugin.
The open interface can also be used with:
- Bitfocus Companion
- Node-RED
- AxisAndOhs
- FSUIPC helpers
- SPAD.neXt
- Arduino-based cockpits
- Button boxes and custom hardware
- Tablets, browser dashboards and custom applications
This allows your voice workflow, physical controls and visual displays to remain synchronized with the active checklist.
🖥️ MSFS 2024 Companion Panel
The included Checklist Reader Companion is a dedicated in-game toolbar panel for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
It provides:
- Live checklist and connection status
- Current, previous and upcoming checklist items
- Section progress and remaining items
- Normal, Abnormal and Emergency section overviews
- Searchable voice-command and query reference
- Favorites and voice-assisted search
- An optional external browser view for a second monitor
The panel is especially useful in VR because essential checklist information remains visible inside the simulator without switching to another application.
🛬 Full GSX Integration
Control GSX directly by voice through the Checklist Reader.
Trigger individual actions, navigate GSX menus, request boarding, deboarding, catering, refueling, pushback, and ground services, or reset GSX whenever needed — all without taking your hands off the controls.
✏️ Create Your Own Checklists
Use the integrated Checklist Editor to create and customize procedures for any aircraft.
Checklist Reader supports Normal, Abnormal and Emergency procedures, interactive responses, spoken instructions, delays, pauses, simulator commands and advanced SAPI5/SSML speech formatting.
✔ Additional Features
✔ Core checklist, voice, editor and SimConnect functionality works offline
✔ No cloud account or subscription required
✔ No telemetry or tracking
✔ Supports locally installed Windows SAPI5 voices
✔ Automatic aircraft detection and checklist profile selection
✔ Configurable flight and aircraft-system monitoring profiles
✔ Optional automatic pause while Beyond ATC is speaking
✔ Keyboard, HOTAS, button box and macro-device support through hotkeys
✔ First-party Elgato Stream Deck plugin
✔ Open HTTP API, event stream and outbound webhooks
✔ VR-friendly MSFS 2024 Companion panel
✔ Works as a standalone voice-driven checklist tool even without a simulator connection
🎧 Push-To-Talk Recommendation
👉 Push-To-Talk is strongly recommended.
Background noise, keyboard clicks, conversations and ATC audio may otherwise trigger unintended voice commands.
Push-To-Talk can be assigned to a keyboard shortcut or operated through compatible HOTAS controls, pedals, button boxes, Stream Deck buttons and other macro devices.
👉 Antivirus Notice ⚠️
Some antivirus scanners may incorrectly flag the application because of its voice-recognition, simulator-integration and local HTTP-interface features.
Checklist Reader contains no telemetry or user tracking. Its core functionality works locally and offline. Network communication occurs only when you explicitly use or enable features such as SimBrief, data downloads, local-network access, external integrations or configured webhooks.

Checklist Reader – Version 1.0.16.12 This release fixes a significant GSX Pro problem under MSFS 2024 – ground service requests were being rejected outright because of a stale simulator variable – and adds voice answers to GSX's follow-up questions, a Tour Guide entry point right in the Simulator Status window, and a much more thorough support-package system for when something needs troubleshooting. Important: Existing checklists and checklist bundles remain fully compatible. -------------------------------------------------- NEW: Answer GSX's Follow-Up Questions by Voice • When GSX asks back after an order – which handling agent, which fuel operator, how much fuel – you can now answer by voice instead of reaching for the mouse. GSX does not wait long for these menus (typically five to eight seconds) before deciding for itself, so a short prompt ("Your choice") tells you it's time to answer. • Answers are flexible: the operator name alone, with "please", as a full sentence ("we take Swissport"), by position ("option three"), or a percentage ("sixty percent"). • Clicking the GSX menu still works exactly as before – voice is an additional option, not a replacement. • A new "GSX Ground Services" chapter was added to the manual (DE/EN) walking through a full fuel-truck example. -------------------------------------------------- NEW: Tour Guide in the Simulator Status Window • The Simulator Status window now has its own "Tour Guide" menu – the shortest way to reach the feature, since the map no longer has to be open. • From there you can open the Tour Guide panel, toggle narration on/off, jump straight to the map zoomed to the active tour areas, and see at a glance how many explanations across how many areas have already been narrated. • The menu header itself shows a dot ("Tour Guide ●") whenever narration is switched on, so the state is visible without opening the menu at all. -------------------------------------------------- FIXED: GSX Ground Service Requests Rejected on MSFS 2024 • GSX integration was effectively unusable: every ground service request was refused because Checklist Reader believed the parking brake was permanently open. Three simulator variables still used their old FS9/FSX names, which MSFS 2024 no longer recognizes; the rejected variables silently shifted every value read after them, including the parking brake. • All simulator variable names were re-verified directly against a running MSFS 2024 session – not derived from documentation – and the affected ones were corrected. • The GSX readiness check now only holds back an order when it actually has reliable data, and it can be switched off entirely in the settings if you prefer to let GSX judge for itself. The resolved parking brake is now confirmed live instead of getting stuck. • Ground service requests made shortly after an engine restart are no longer mistakenly reported as rejected – they simply get more time. • The GSX settings dialog is now a clearer two-column layout without scrollbars. -------------------------------------------------- IMPROVED: Support Packages for Troubleshooting • Support packages are far more complete: they now include a component inventory with version and timestamp information, and logs are split by purpose (operation, startup, incidents, performance) with millisecond-precision timestamps and a run ID per session, so problems are much easier to trace. • A support package is now always created, even if some files can't be collected – missing items are simply listed with their path and reason instead of blocking the package. • The troubleshooting guide (DE/EN) gained a new chapter on creating and sending a support package, and now recommends creating one first when facing a more complex problem. -------------------------------------------------- IMPROVED: Reliability and Internals • Checking GSX's connection no longer risks side effects on the connection itself, and GSX menu events are now logged for easier diagnosis. • The Companion web panel gives clearer context messages, and its keyboard-lock handling for in-panel typing was made more robust. • Error logging and log formatting were improved throughout. -------------------------------------------------- Community & Support The Checklist Reader is an actively evolving project, and feedback is always welcome. 🔗 Your EFB flight plan — SID, STAR, and all — will flow directly into Checklist Reader alongside SimBrief and PLN support, finally giving IFR pilots accurate procedure tracking straight from the aircraft they're flying.
🎯 Takeoff speeds will get the same treatment: V1, VR, and V2 will be calculated from real aircraft, weight, and runway performance data instead of entered by hand, then called out at exactly the right moment on your takeoff roll.
🗺️ And for VFR and scenic flyers, the TourGuide panel will recommend the right aircraft class for any tour — piston, turboprop, or jet — based on how the route is actually paced, so you never outrun (or crawl past) the story.
📋 Three new aircraft checklists arrive with the update: the iconic Boeing 707-320C (full and Easy versions), the C-160 Transall in civilian and military configurations. Each includes detailed research notes for those who want to understand the source material.
🌍 Thirty new TourGuides explore history, geology, and landscape across continents: Cold War Berlin, the San Andreas Fault across five California routes, the Viking journeys to Greenland and Vinland, Nepal's peaks, Iceland's geothermal drama, the Panama Canal, New York and Chicago's urban stories, the Galápagos, and more. Each one is built from research sources and ready to fly.

Checklist Reader 1.0.16.10 is one of the biggest updates so far.
A major highlight is the new GSX Pro integration with voice control, which could be implemented cleanly thanks to GSX’s new API.
Checklist Reader Lite also introduces a separate, lightweight edition focused entirely on checklist operation.
The Tour Guide system has been completely rebuilt and expanded to 113 individual guides.
The update also includes new aircraft checklists, monitoring presets, and the “Next Item Now” command.
The map, Companion Web Panel, Stream Deck support, and many internal processes have also been improved.
Be sure to try the Annunciator Panel, which provides quick and direct access to many functions.

Shortened for english users: I asked if there was a setting to make the copilot do less small talk (saying only the "necessary").
Hi! Vielen Dank!

first of all , many thanks for your tool
Do you know if a Skyward c680 package exist ?
C680 & C700 flight process, cockpit organization and checklist are very closed, does the C700 Longitude checklist pack can be used for the C680 if no dedicated Checklist pack ?
For now, we’ll release it as a standalone checklist rather than a full package and see what you think. Depending on the feedback, we can always expand it into a package later.
Both aircraft now share consistent safety barriers across the full flight: explicit transponder sequencing (Standby → Altitude reporting → Traffic mode → Standby), defined beacon/landing light states, crew oxygen checks, and a dedicated Securing Aircraft section for the postflight walkaround. Each checklist is validation-clean and source-documented.
As always, I'll be posting early-access versions on discord so you can test them out and share feedback before the official release. Both the C680 Sovereign+ and C700 Citation Longitude will ship in the next release. 🎯
Feedback welcome — this is where we iterate and get things right.
