Drag and Drop

Pushback Helper is an application to make push back operations easier.

  • No need to contact ATC for the jetway connection
  • No need to contact ATC for using push back
  • No need to contact ATC for calling fuel truck
  • Open and close aircraft doors easily (A320, 787, 747 only)

Installation

Extract all files to any location and run PushbackHelper.exe. There is no need to put into the community folder location.

Auto-launch

If you wish to auto-launch the app upon the start of MSFS, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the MSFS installation folder and then subfolder LocalCache a) Typically C:\Users[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_\LocalCache b) This can vary depending on install drive or if you have the Steam version.
  2. In the LocalCache folder, find the exe.xml file and edit with your text editor of choice.
  3. Add the following snippet under the SimBase.Document tree, but substitute the path of where you installed MSFS Pushback Helper App.
    PushbackHelper
    False
[PATH TO PUSHBACK HELPER EXE FILE]
  1. This is an example of an updated exe.xml file:
Auto launch external applications on MSFS start
  exe.xml
  False

     PushbackHelper
     False
     C:\Users\alexj\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\community\msfs-pushback-helper-app\PushbackHelper.exe

Usage

  • To show/hide UI press the Page Up key
  • To connect or disconnect jetway simply click the Jetway button.
  • To call the fuel truck simply click the Fuel button.
  • To start or stop push back simply click the Tug button.
  • The tug will wait in place until either Forward or Reverse is selected (remove the parking brake first or it will move slowly).

I found an alternative way to do it:
    - Select the app in the task bar, be sure is highlighted.
    - Press alt + space bar
    - In the contextual menu select Size or press S
    - Now you can use the arrow keys to resize the windows using the keyboard

The same way works for move the window

Hi, can you also add features for baggage's truck, catering and all sim objects?

This is a must have app for sure. Great job. One thing that happens though is that, when I disconnect from the Tug, sometimes it pulls away normally but sometimes it just disappears into thin air. Is there anything I can do?

The tug movement while not attached to the aircraft is handled by the MSFS AI system. The software doesn't allow manipulation of that yet. We are limited in many ways currently by what the software allows.

I'd really like this app to open automatically when I start MSFS but your instructions (and those on GitHub) simply don't work...
PLEASE can you post a version that will install WITHIN THE SIM automatically?
    Thanks!

I do have MSFS2020 from Steam, and in the paths shown in the description I can't find 'exe.xml'. Also searched extensively and still could not find it.
    Any tip?
    Thanks

This app is very useful and it speeds up operations a lot.
I am having an issue after FS2020 update: after the activation of pushback, the pushback trolley doesn't go in front of the plane, but it juggles and then it turn off the lights without pushing back the plane.
    What should I do?

Yesterday I tried to remove the FlyByWire A320 MOD and pushback was working properly. But as soon as I re-install the A320 MOD it doesn't work again...what a mess...

Perfect. But we need a ramp connection because the default ramp just stay connect to the plane for 10 seconds!
