Delta Air Lines first acquired the McDonnell-Douglas MD-88 in the 1980s, and ran them all the way through until the COVID-19 pandemic made these jets go the boneyard for an early retirement. Most MD-88s started life in the much loved "Widget" livery, through the "Interim" Ron Allen scheme, the "Colors in Motion" or "Wavy Gravy" or "Deltaflot", and then in the late 2000s, Delta would rebrand again to their current scheme, a basic Eurowhite, blue belly, and a Delta on the tail. These days the Delta livery still does look good, but (in my opinion) is getting quite tired. It's unlikely we'll see any meaningful updates soon as Delta seems committed to the brand but a new livery certainly wouldn't go amiss. Or at least some retro liveries. A retro Widget A350 would certainly look amazing, though unlikely now as Delta's centennial liveries were all just interpretations of their current design and Delta has zero retro liveries.

N900DE - The MD-88 to operate the last scheduled passenger revenue flight for Delta.

N906DL - This MD-88 was involved in an engine failure incident in 2019 as Delta 1425, where the #1 engine failed in flight. Video was taken by a passenger which showed the engine spinner detached and grinding against the static inlet guide vanes which actually stopped the spinner from being ingested and causing a worse failure.

N909DL - This was the first MD-88 delivered to Delta Air Lines in 1987 and flew all the way until 2015, when it was involved in a runway excursion incident in the snow at LaGuardia Airport. Nobody was killed in this incident, thankfully, but the aircraft was declared a loss.
