Description
Located in Red Hook, New York, Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is dedicated to preserving the history of early aviation. Since opening in 1958, it has become well known for its collection of antique and vintage aircraft, many of which still fly during seasonal weekend airshows. Visitors from around the world come to experience these historic aircraft in flight and enjoy a unique glimpse into the early years of aviation.
Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome NY94 is my freeware recreation of this historic airfield for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. I created the scenery using available reference photographs and other publicly available information. I did my best to recreate the airport as accurately as possible. In areas where reference material was incomplete or unavailable, I used my best judgment, so some details may differ from the real aerodrome.
Included in this scenery:
- Handcrafted white wooden picket fencing and slatted wooden snow fencing.
- Custom hangars, buildings, museum areas, gift shop, announcer's tower, bridges, signs, and many other airport objects created from scratch in Blender.
In general, all of my custom objects use the NY94 prefix.
- Selected third-party library assets are used where appropriate for vintage aircraft, people, chairs, entrance fencing, static aircraft, airport clutter, and other small environmental details.
- Future updates may be released as improvements are made or additional reference material becomes available.
Please do not redistribute or modify this scenery. Thank you for downloading, and I hope you enjoy your visit to Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome.
INSTALLATION:
- Please refer to the included PDF file for installation instructions.

Dependency & Package Cleanup Reduced the number of required external libraries by replacing several previously used assets with suitable alternatives from libraries already required by the scenery. Dependencies Removed: TOFTOF Library Objects 2020/2024 Bush & Backcountry Library Ethnicfs Military Library Ethnicfs Misc Scenery Objects Removing these four dependencies reduces the total external library footprint by approximately 3.6 GB Texture & Package Clean-Up Performed an additional cleanup and optimization pass on the scenery's textures. Several character textures that had remained at unnecessarily high resolutions were reduced where appropriate: Apologies missed them on Export. Characters- 4096×4096 → 1024×1024 Additional Texture Optimization-2048×2048 → 1024×1024 Several edge textures were reduced from 1024×1024 → 512×512 Several stray and unnecessary textures were also removed, reducing the raw texture content by approximately 350 MB. After rebuilding the scenery, the final compiled package was reduced from approximately 1.63 GB to 1.18 GB, a reduction of roughly 450 MB (approximately 28%).

The cinematic intro featuring Old Rhinebeck 10/10 loved it.
Seeing you come in for the landing and watching the airport come into view on approach was really cool.
It’s always nice seeing someone actually using and enjoying the scenery. Thanks again for featuring Old Rhinebeck in the video!

Either way, I think it's damned good worked, and I hope you keep working with it. Outstanding. I CAN recommend it.

That should help reduce the overall installation footprint without sacrificing the quality of the scenery. That’s about the best I can realistically do without rebuilding major parts of the project. Appreciate the kind words.

Since the people library I originally used is no longer available on .to, those characters will be replaced with models from older, reliable sources to bring a little more life to the scenery.
