Norway Forests is a large-scale vegetation enhancement, focused on recreating the country's real forest character through custom biome systems and region-specific vegetation distribution. Sadly, like all the Nordic countries, miss some tree species, so I did what I could and used some creative solutions here and there. Norway blends in nicely with my Sweden and Finland sceneries.

This scenery replaces my older similar Norway forest scenery. The scenery rebuilds Norway's vegetation zones using realistic tree species and custom biome definitions tailored specifically for Norwegian landscapes. Forests gradually change as you travel from the deciduous and mixed forests of the south, through the vast boreal interior, and into the alpine and coastal mountain environments, creating a much more authentic Norwegian atmosphere across the country.

The scenery uses land cover and vegetation data from:

A major focus of this project is removing misplaced vegetation from areas that should remain open, including exposed fjellheim terrain, wetlands, fjord walls, infrastructure corridors and agricultural transitions. This dramatically improves the overall realism of Norway from both low-level VFR flying and higher altitude operations, especially across its dramatic vertical terrain.

The project is designed exclusively for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

Remove the older Norway forest scenery if you have it installed.
Place the norway-forest package into your Community2024 folder.

Tree placement logic itself is controlled by Asobo's world generation system. This project does not manually place individual trees, but instead replaces and refines the biome definitions, vegetation types and forest composition used throughout Norway.

Svalbard is not included, it seems there is a very Long(year) winter all the time.

The result is a significantly more realistic Norwegian landscape with improved regional variation, forest structure and vegetation authenticity across fjords, mountains, and coastline.
