    Description

    Update for the wonderful Damascus Airport Scenery by HaithamElshazly. The scenery has a few issues that he promised to update but since we haven't heard from him in a while, I did it myself. Hope he is fine and will continue his work on this large and well done airport.

     

    Things improved:

    Removed apartment buildings beside the tower, half inside the terminal and further south on the airport area. There are no buildings there in reality.

    Removed the three white arcs on the aiport entrance. I checked satellite pictures and they don't exist so I deleted them because they had a bug anyway. However AI-cars now show a weird behaviour in that area as they jump over it. Hope I can do something about it in the future.

    Added military aircraft shelters. I know green is not the colour of the desert but for a start I didn't find a good alternative.

    Replaced default static aircraft parked on aprons with somehwat nicer models. I'm not a fan of the generic pointed nose light blue A330s.

    Depending on the interest in this mod I might do further updates. Please consider this just a quick remedy of the obvious problems with the original scenery, which is otherwise a great job including some beautifully handcrafted buildings. Enjoy the airport!

     

    Installation

    Unzip the file into your community folder along with the original Damascus scenery.

    Make sure you install the dependencies as listed below.

    Also have the Japan World Update installed as well as the free UK2000-library from the Marketplace if you want to see two military C-17.

    Thank you! I do understand your wish for the new flag but I can only remove the complete tower. The new flag needs to be modeled and I have no skills in blender.

    I think the flags haven't been updated on the ATC tower yet?

    That's correct but that's something the original author would have to do. I have no skills in blender. Though I don't know if he is still active in the community.

    Thanks for your handwork! A few things that need to be addressed: there is a "bump" on 23L, you'll notice it when you takeoff. The scenery overall is also not very accurate if you compare the layout to the charts. Airports lights are always on.. Taxiway lines are not realistic.. Are these things you would be able to update as well?

    Currently my flightsim projects don't have a high priority in life. Runways and taxiways can't be reworked by an on-top fix. One would have to redo the airport so only the original author can change that. I might be able to do something about the lights. I'll look into it when time permits.

    Hi! Today, I checked again. I could not find any of your issues. I don't have a bump in runway 23L and the lights are default lights that only go on at night. The ground markings might not be perfect but it would be too much work to redo a whole big airport.
    Do you maybe have another addon in the area that could mess with the ground levels?

    Not top of yours, its my own. Planes from several russian scenaries (B-737, Il-76, An-26, Tu-154 and Yak-40). Removed high buildings and added Asobo's hangars.
